These mags except of course the pre-ban are practically brand new. What is causing the lower (baseplate side) of the mag catch channel to peen like this?

The mag catch.

It is normal.

I would assume then that is from agressively seating the mag?

Thanks

Violent insertion.

Well, I would'nt say I insert magazines "violently" but I do ensure a proper seat. Oh well I guess.

Are you by chance running a metal aftermarket mag release?

I think all my mags look like that, well, the ones that have been used.

That's pretty simple; jamming them in like Rambo might.  None of my mags, even the really old ones, look like that.

15K rounds thru my G17 last year, all mags look like that and run fine.

All mine look like that too.

I wouldn't worry too much about it unless the top started looking like that.

It is from over insertion of the mags, but it won't hurt a thing, that lower edge of the cutout doesn't serve any function.  The upper edge is where the magazine engages the catch.  Also the magazine's shape is self limiting so they can't over insert enough to do any real damage.

All my Glock mags have that over insertion damage to the cutout, it's normal and not an issue.

What's the advantage of "overinserting"??  I feel like I'm missing something!

Just wait until you drop them on gravel/concrete and then kick them accidentally when you go to pick them up.  Scratches like that tell a pleasant story and will in no way hasten the performance of your weapon.  Shoot away!  Larry Vickers did a pretty thorough Glock Torture test (along with a lot of other folks in the past), and believe me this is nothing.  Be glad you bought a Glock!

It's not an advantage/disadvantage issue at all, other than I have always aggressively inserted mags. Better to aggressively insert than fiddle fuck them in IMHO.

Thanks to all, just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one
