As some of us have done in the past with magpul stuff. Has anyone ever tried to use rite dye on their glock lower polymer frame? I have a Glock and would like to dye it olive drab.

Also, duracoat
anyone done this on the slide and had the finish last in a holster? I have seen some pictures on google and it looked terrible after a few draws. Im not sure if they did the prep work correctly.

Is it black?

It will always be black unless you paint it.

Regarding RIT dye on a glock frame, similar to pmags, it would definitely need to be an OD frame to be able to take any dye.

I would be interested to hear experiences of duracoat on either the slide or frame as my wife wont quit hounding me about getting her glock refinished.

This thread says you cant dye black anything other than black. if you had an OD frame, its doable. look toward the later pages of the thread and someone did dye a glock frame camo. but he started with a OD frame.

Thanks for the reply. I wanted to ask first ;)

as far as using paint...it's a carry Glock and ive seen what duracoat and paint look like after a few holster draws. It doesnt last long and looks terrible. I was thinking dye would impregnate the plastic. But I have a black Glock so I guess it will stay black.

The only thing that I have seen look good and last on a glock slide is powder coating but that is expensive.

I am still looking at Cerakote and it seems promising on holding up for duty use.

From what I’ve heard and seen, Cerakote holds up very well on polymer if applied correctly.

I'm going to order some and give it a go. Ill test it a few weeks in my holster and report back.
