If you don't I will, send me the info. The GAP is a very good round despite the professional opinion here.

I'd skip it. Ammo's a pain to find and never cheap.

You will have a bit of a hard time finding ammo and the cartridge has pretty much lost all steam of becoming more main stream.  I always liked my 45GAPs when I had them.  I sold a batch of guns to pay some bills off a while back and they were included in the package.  I would buy another if I came across it.  Especially at that price, but I think I still have 3000 rounds or so laying around somewhere.  After that, I would be reloading for it.  If you are anywhere near Jacksonville, let me know.  I will buy it if you decide not to.

People say the GAP is dead, but why would Glock release a 4th gen of all the GAP models if that were the case?

Midway has ammo among a bunch of other places, probably in your locale too. I'd say go for it if it won't be your only pistol.

Saw a Glock 37 Gen 4 on gunbroker today.  Also listed on the teamglock site.
Never seen one in person though.

I purchased my Gen 4 G-37 in September 2010. My wife and I both also have a Gen 3 G-39 , G-38 , G-37 . The G-38 and G-39 are our CCW weapons of choice. We shoot the G-37's and G-38's in GSSF matches.

I have a few different pistols. The past year I decided to drink the Glock kool-aid and it was the wrost idea ever, since I'm on Glock number 3. I have a 17 Gen4, 19 Gen4, and the most recent is a 21 Gen4. I really like the 45acp but like the way the G19 carries. Then I was thinking about going with a G30SF or a G30 Gen4 when it comes out. I'm not sure.

With all the sources for ammo online, I would jump on it. I had a G-38 when they first came out and loved it, but never could find ammo to keep it fed.

But like many other people that don't think about what other people want.  You fail to look at it from the other side and realize that some people simply want a 45 caliber platform in a GLOCK with a smaller grip.  That is why the gun was designed the way it is.  It wasn't meant to be a high capacity gun.

No its hard to find. Plain and simple. When some place DOES have it, the selection is usually quite slim as well.

As if to illustrate my point,a local cop walked into the range Saturday evening looking for a (one) (1) box of FMJ's in 45 GAP. They didn't have a single box to sell him.

Its not a little po-dunk shop either. They generally stock 4 or 5 types of each caliber they carry, and they stock a lot of guns. The GAP is feasible if one always buys over the internet.

I know this thread was over a month ago but...

I have a G39 with trijicon n/s and 5 mags w/extensions sitting on my table.  The price is $400.00 firm and I have not given an answer yet.  I plan on shooting it tomorrow.

I am a Glock junkie (9MM and 40S&W) but I am not sure if I want to get into another caliber.

That's a great deal I would jump on that. Ammo. Can be had online for .45 ACP prices sometimes less.

Really?  That sounds promising.  To be honest I haven't even checked ammo prices yet.  I will however.

I just came in from shooting it.  A noticeable power difference than my G22.  I recovered the rounds and most impressive.  Where the 40 cal rounds tend to pass through one jug, two jugs and then disappear (usually travel out left side), The 45 GAP traveled straight in all jugs and stopped in the third one with good expansion.

The weapon came with a handful of Federal Hydro shock.  Not my choice (I use Corbon or Hornady Critical Defense) but I was thankful to have them.

Question: Do the mags for the 39 automatically come with the grip extensions?  I wonder why one would not want to have it.  I can get 7 rounds in the mags and they are marked for 6.

Thanks for your time/comments.

Never fired a GAP, but at that price I'd grab it. If you don't like it, I'm sure you could make your money back on it.

I would say those are +1 extensions you have.
I own a G38 and love it. You really should buy the 39 then get an account over at S&G Ammo

Bought it.  But I can see where I will want the next size up.  The deputy sold this one for that very reason.  He could not keep both.

I love the idea of the 45GAP. It's an improved .45acp. Performance (GAP vs. standard ACP) of the rounds are equal and the .45GAP gets it done in a smaller package. But, ammo supply is the turnoff. Bummer.

The more people that I show the expanded rounds, the more comments I get.

And yes- the prices are pretty much the same as 45 ACP.

And yes- they also are not as common.

I do not know the Generation but I have been told by several LEO friends that the Georgia State Patrol has or is adopting the Glock in 45 GAP as their service weapon.

true...i see it as fixing the grip of the gun (ie: glock could have redefined a "smaller" grip) instead of just "inventing" another caliber...

The original intent was a G17 size gun, all the way around, that shot 45.  The original design failed in testing, so they had to beef the slide back up.  That is why they were originally going with the new caliber.  It wasn't just for "a smaller grip."

I do not know the Generation but I have been told by several LEO friends that the Georgia State Patrol has or is adopting the Glock in 45 GAP as their service weapon.

In the last four years, five state law enforcement agencies have adopted the .45GAP.

In order of adoption:
1. New York State Police
2. Georgia State Patrol
3. Pennsylvania State Police
4. South Carolina Highway Patrol
5. Florida Highway Patrol

Florida Highway Patrol was the first law enforcement agency to adopt the Gen4 .45GAP.
They chose it over the .45ACP Glock 21SF and .45ACP S&W M&P-45.
The cost per pistol was the same for all three, so the deciding factor came down the the officers voting which one they liked best (accuracy/handling/reliability).

I was originally skeptical about the .45GAP, after all, I was a tried and true .40 and .45 ACP fan. I have been in LE for 30 years (still am). I started carrying issue Glocks in 1987 (G17). My Dept. issued 9mm's, then .40's. We finally settled on .45 ACP's in 2007. Another officer one day said, hey try this .45 GAP out. I thought he was nuts. after all, the .45 GAP was an answer to a question never asked, etc. Well I hesitantly shot that G38. After shooting it, I realized I was wrong and all the Internet super shooters out there were wrong too. That pistol shot sooooo nice. very accurate, easily controlled. I then tried the G39 and was sold. I own all three .45 GAP's now. I did research for my PD, I checked with all the State Police agencies that issued them, including PSP. Checked their testing and evaluations. They all loved the .45 GAP and praised them. My local troopers really like them too. Recently, Some officers on My dept., who were totally against the .45GAP have decided, after shooting the G38 and G37, they like them. We placed a order for G37's and G38's to replace our G30SF's and 21SF's. The Dept. is half .45 ACP and half .45 GAP.

I never imagined that I would ever say or report this, but its true! You owe it to yourself to try the .45GAP before you trash it. It really is worth it. You will be surprised.

I love my Issue G38!!!! the only thing better would be a G38GEN4.   For that price, scoop that G38 up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i've never had much interest in the .45 GAP.  Just not much interest in adding a handgun and buy ammo for what amounts to a proprietary caliber.  If doing that doesn't bother you, then I say buy it OP.
