Greetings experts

I just purchased a gently used Glock 27 from a buddy. I carry a Glock 22 for duty use and have been wanting a 27 for years and finally pulled the trigger. I detail stripped the slide, inspected for damage, cleaned, lubed, all that good stuff. Two questions on the magazines:

1) I believe the followers on the factory 27 mags read a "5", should I be looking to swap them out for the newest follower, if so what is the current issue? Do they use the same followers as my 22 mags?

2) One of the mags came with a Glock factory +2  extension installed. I broke it down, cleaned it out and reassembled. It does not look like the 'take down hole' on the bottom of the extension has a snap in it, it is recessed. The extension feels like it's on there tight, but should the little nipple be flush with the bottom of the base-plate, or am I overthinking this?

Thanks for the time folks, I appreciate it.

1. No you shouldn't upgrade the follower to the newest version because that magazine already has the newest version for it. Standard capacity .40 magazines that originally came with followers 1028(#1) through #5 should only use one of those followers. Mags that came with followers #6 through #8 should use one of those followers.

#9 followers are supposed to work in magazines that originally came with followers #6 through #8, but the part of the #9 follower that engages the slide stop is slightly wider and may prevent the follower from rising fully in the magazine, usually causing a failure to lock the slide back on the last round. If you encounter this problem, disassemble the magazine and look at that part of the follower, you'll see a rub mark there that you can shave down until the follower rises properly in the magazine. Here's a picture showing that area colored in red:

All standard capacity .40 magazines use the same followers, according to what I've posted above. Limited capacity 10-round magazines use a different follower.

Generally speaking there's no need to upgrade to the latest follower in a given magazine unless you experience problems with it.

2. With the +2 baseplate, the plug should sit a little below flush in the hole, as long as it's partway in the hole it's fine.
