Ok so i finally got my Glock 20 and let me say its beautiful! My newb of the month question is.......when the slide is pulled back and locked, and an empty mag is in why cant i rack the slide without depressing the lock on the side?? I read somewhere there has to be atleast one round in the mag for the slide to release with an overhand technique? Please lmk and i am awaiting my roasting! Thanks guys

The follower in the mag pushes up on the slide release in order to lock the slide on a empty mag.

no problem. Id also suggest you get familiar with the operation of your new glock. It will make handling and diagnosing any issue easier and also all the drills will make more sense.

If you want to run drills get some snap caps it will allow you to practice all your drills as if the gun is loaded.

One thing one can easily do with an empty mag inserted & wanting to drop the slide is, hit the mag release & use your grip hand to catch the mag & only allow it to drop an inch or so. One can then easily drop the slide w/o fooling around with completely dropping the mag all the way out.

As the others mention, it sounds like you need to cruise thru the owners manual & learn its idiosyncrasies.

Check out the YouTube videos about your respective glock model. They have everything from reviews, tear down, cleaning, etc. One can learn quite a bit from YouTube, just make sure you weed out Tue bullshit videos on there.

pretty much all semi's that have an empty mag in them the follower activates the slide stop- pretty standard. I do question the glock 20 10mm as a first purchase (or at least your intial semi auto) heavy recoil ammo expensive and hard to find will limit your shooting somewhat and you'll need a lot of practice to master such a beast. Hope you have some smaller calibers you can train with?
