I have a chance to purchase from my LGS a G17 range gun...They have sent it back to Glock and it has been factory rebuilt.  To me it seems it would be a o.k. pistol since Glock rebuilt even thoughit has been shot multiple thousands of times..

Has anyone had any experience in buying a refurbished Glock ?

The frame and the internals will be fine. It is the barrel you want to check out. If the barrel is the exact same serial number than the frame it will be original which could have a lot of rounds through it. Having said that there are Glocks with well over 25,000 rounds that are just fine!

I don't have any experience with one but if Glock checked it out and updated any worn parts/springs I'd take one if the price was right.

Most likely they will want $350 or more .  Just go buy a new one , believe me , the extra money is worth that new pistol feeling especially when considering a range rental gun.

Agreed at $350, buy a new one, you will be happier in the long run,  If you're getting a great deal <$300, different story.  Had one refurbed duty gun and even the Glock Armorer said that the frame seemed off, even though the parts where ok.  Ended up trading it off and buying a G 34.

I bought a factory refurb G22 years ago.  Within a couple years the trigger pin broke and the trigger return spring broke.  Replace the internals with new, and you should be good to go.

I own three 3rd Gen G17's.

The first I bought new.

The other two I bought as refurbished police trades.

I now have several thousand rounds down each of them, and I can't tell the difference between them.

If you are keeping the Glock for the long term, I don't think there is going to be an appreciable difference between the new one and the refurbished one.  You'll need (and get) the same sort of service for both.

I agree about just buying a new glock..., and thank you for the input...

This was not a police trade, as I said it was a range gun for close to two or more years I believe...I will just pass and look for a gently used Gen3 17.   I was also told today after I amde the post that it was not a Glock rebuild but jsut  sent to Glock for new parts to be puit in.  Probalbly the same thing but different wording.

Anyways thanks for the advice and i will take it...

What were they asking for it?  If you send it in to Glock they will replace anything that is wrong with it for free or VERY cheap.  A new barrel can be had for under $100 so depending on the price i would jump on it.

Unless it has over 250,000 rounds through it, then the barrel will be o.k.  Might still be o.k. with 250k+ rounds through it.  25,000 rounds is "nothing" as far as a Glock's barrel's longevity.

I would avoid a range gun unless it is < $275
Police trades are different, they can have cosmetic issues but cops just don't shoot that much and the deals are usually decent
Pretty much any good deal on a used glock except for a suspected range gun

The price is $479 plus tax...and back groud check.  I intend to trade in a Beretta 92 on it...but as stated by others, I would jsut spend the extra money and get a newer Gen3 17...

I have a Gen3 19 and a Gen4 17 and just looking for another Glock...and thought I could make a good deal on it, ...
maybe I will see what is 'unveiled ' by Gloc at the upcoming Shot Show.

That's insane!  You can get a new one for that (much less if you're a GSSF member)...I was thnking it'd be around $250.

Yea, no.  For that price, forget it.

sell the 92 on the EE and use the money you make, which will be about twice what a gunshop will pay you and buy a NIB Glock 17.

$475 for a used range gun?  Don't walk, RUN away.  If my range was stupid enough to put a price tag on that gun I'd find a new range just on principle alone.

I believe a rebuilt pistol from GLOCK as you noted would be as good as new and have a warranty...just depends how nice that price is to what you can get for a completely new one...

Not only would I not buy it at that price, I would never go to that range again and tell others to avoid it as well.
Don't trade the Beretta. They will give you $250 tops and sell it for $450.
Sell it your self and buy a new Glock, and not from them.
