Can Conversion Barrels be relied upon for self defense? Or are they Range Toys?
How about accuracy with the fixed sights already on the slide? Do they shoot to the same point of aim? Can they be swapped back & forth & still be relied upon to be sufficiently sighted in? Thanks for the help guys. |

The problem with most .40-to-9mm conversion barrels has little to do with the fact that they're conversion barrels and more to do with the fact that most aftermarket barrels have tighter chambers than do factory Glock barrels. Many have reported 100% reliability with conversion barrels, particularly when the appropriate extractor is installed. The ejector isn't usually an issue. The exception is the .45ACP-to-10mm conversion barrels. Some report 100% successful function. I'd just have to deduce that 100% doesn't mean the same to everybody. |

I don't see how they can be as reliable.
I would think the different sized breachfaces of the 9mm and .40 slides would mean the extractor can't get as good of a bite on the case rim. And the ejector can't get as solid of a hit on the case either to eject forcefully. Not to mention the the fully supported barrel has a steeper feed angle. I wouldn't trust one. There's already been one thread on here about a G23 that had it's extractor chewed up by conversion barrel use. I've never used one personally, though. |

Pretty simple to swap both the extractor and ejector to 9mm parts. However, be sure to swap back to the .40 ejector when converting back to .40. I installed a Lonewolf .40-to-9mm conversion barrel in a friend's G22. I don't believe it ever jammed or failed in any way; however, I also don't know how many rounds it was fired. |
| As someone who has the G22 with LW 9mm conversion, I can attest to 100% reliability with my setup. I didn't change anything but the barrel and mags. I wouldn't EDC my conversion setup only because the threaded barrel keeps the pistol from fitting my IWB. I have an LW conversion barrel for my G23 that fits my G27 as well and have had no issues with either pistol using 9mm mags. I found POI to be the same between the two barrels. Get it and play at the range for a while and you can decide if you want to carry it. |

I've been running a G27 with a conversion barrel in it for several years, now, and mine has always run perfectly. I have heard of others that did not, but after over 1K reliable rounds through mine, I was completely comfortable using mine for carry purposes. |
| I have about 2000 rounds through my Stormlake 40-9 Conversion in my G23...and only 1 FTF...and I attribute this to a break in period...happened within the first 20 rounds. Keep in mind these have tighter tolerences than Glock OEM barrels. I would carry with this barrel! I use Glock 19 magazines. |
