I have a 2nd Gen 22 that I would like to shoot 9mm out of. I know there are barrels that will do what I want but can I buy a G17 slide and just swap out the .40 cal slide? Maybe the ejector too? I would like to be able to use the Glock factory threaded barrel with a can.

Yes.  You might not need the ejector and extractor swap, but they're pretty inexpensive and easy to install if you do.

If he's using a G17 slide the extractor is automatically replaced.

O.P. yes you can change just the slide, but if you experience issues with ejection you know you have to change out the trigger housing for a 9mm one.

a conversion barrel is cheaper. good luck finding a complete g17 upper for under $300; a conversion barrel is ~$120.

Would the slide need to be from a 2nd Gen or would a 3rd Gen work also?
