I have a 3rd Gen G21.  It has the extended slide release/stop.  However, the release is draggin on the side of the slide and not fully engatging the slide notch.  this results in a less than stable open slide.  I can reach into the mag well and puish the slide stop out a little and it locks up nicely, but the follower on teh mags does not provide consistant engagement.

I have an extra slide release.  Can I just bend that thing out a little to clear the slide?

In case you have not figured it out I am new to the tupperware but an old hand at the 1911.

perhaps i'm a little retarded but i'm having a bit of trouble understanding how your slide stop is dragging on the side of your slide. The factory extended release  rides on the frame when the slide is in battery.  If your release is  dragging while the slide is out of battery you're release has been bent  somehow. try removing the slide stop and bending it out  a hair or so. You should have at least this much clearence.

I hate to say it, but it sounds like another reason to stick with the original design.

Like I said, I'm new to the tupperware.  The only thing I've done is take the thing out of the box an shoot it.  The only reason I suspect it is the extended slide stop is that the box says "night sights - ext. stop" and it is slightly raised as compared to the stop on the only other glock I've ever held, a G19 about 10 years ago.   I got another slide stop at a gun show for comparison and it is "flatter".       I'll try bending the tip out a bit.

i think you put the spring in the wrong place. the slide stop spring needs to be under the locking block pin. if not, it will drag on the slide.

Could it be weak mag springs?

It is actually the serrated portion of the slide stop that is draggin in the side of the slide when it goes up and down.  I disassembled the frame and the slide stop spring was correctly seated.  THe problem was that the whole slide stop has a lot of slop (side to side play) and when it is actually against the frame on the grip side it was angled too much inward.  I adjusted teh serrated portion of the slide stopr so that is was parallel to the rails and now it does not drag.

I compared it the to the non-extended slide stop and the extra length made it more sesative to the angles.  It is fixed now, but the better practice I would think would be a slide stop w/o so much side to side play.

it suppose to have a slop, because there's a wide opening on the slide stop but the inside mag well should stay in contact with the slide stop. i don't have any problems with the extended slide stop on my G21 and G22.

you really should post picture.
