Added a Plus 2 mag extension to my G21 magazine some years ago which I have been using in a G30 and never had a problem with it before but while checking and pulling the mag from my gun, heard a rattling sound and watched a round tumble out of the magazine and land on the bed.

I was then able to shake and "salt" my bed with the remaining 14 rounds.

Empty mag in hand, slid the floor plate back slightly and wham, the follower nearly ejected itself out of the magazine.

Put it back together and filled the mag again.

It still seems to catch slightly on something in there but it hasn't repeated this morning's scenario.

Don't trust it anymore though and using stock mags only.

Anyone else ever experience this problem?

I've experienced that with aftermarket KCI 31-round .40 magazines.

I'd clean the magazine thoroughly and replace the spring, Glock manufacturer part# 1300. They used to use part# 2309 which was the same spring used in the G17 magazines. Part# 1300 has wider coils so the spring doesn't tilt as much in the tube.

yep

ALL +2 extensions went into the trash, and the problem went away.

Not a problem you want to find out the hard way on a carry gun.

Hmmm.

I guess 14 rounds of a reasonably sure thing is better than having 16 rounds dangerously capable of a major and potentially lethal failure to feed issue.

Time for new springs and OEM floorplates.

If you want extra capacity in .45, I highly recommend the KRISS mag.

Mine has been flawless.

ETA - I wound up ordering the G21 Ext Kit.

Thanks again for the lead.
