I've been toying around with upgrading from my 40 cal G22 (3rd gen) to a G21. (13+1 rounds of 45 acp gives me the warm and fuzzies.) But the grip on the Gen 4 is still a tad too big for me. I am sure I could get used to it, but I want to know if the SF G21s have a slimmer grip than the standard G4 (without a grip panel in place).

Last week at my Glock Armorers recert, they told us the Gen 4 G21 has the same grip circumference as the G21SF using the smallest back strap sent with it.  I handled one in class and it didn't feel any different than my G21SF.

Just want I needed to know. I am going to hit the local gun shop this weekend to get another feel for it. No matter how many guns I purchase for CCW, I always come back to the Glock as my preferred piece.

I can’t speak on the comparison between Gen4 21 and Gen3 21SF, but I can tell you that the SF model doesn’t feel all that much bigger than my 17 (same frame size as your 22). Obviously, YMMV, but I have large hands and I actually prefer the slightly bigger frame of the 21SF.

i personally just stick with gen3s.  i have 8 gen3s and dont have any intention of picking up a gen4 any time soon.
