I just got a G19 and the magazine release does not stick out as far as others I've tried and not as far as that on my G30.  How can I cure this?  It makes it difficult to release the magazine, as in I have to change my grip, really slowing down reloads.  Is there an extended release that isn't obnoxiously big?  Is there a way I can adjust it?  Thanks guys.

You can go with the vickers or even a g34 mag release would work.

Every Glock I have has a Vickers mag release.  Perfect length.

Simply use a 3rd generation G21 factory magazine release, it will give you the extra length you need and is the least costly option. I have used them for years on my G35,32C,22 and 27.

+1 - I do this on all my competition guns.

How easy is it to switch out the mag release myself?  Or, do I need to take it to an armorer or gunsmith?  As a level-set - I can build ARs and have some very basic mechanical skills.

Super easy.  Lots of YouTube videos to show you how.

Basically remove Slide, look down into the grip and you'll see the straight spring that fits in the mag release channel.

With a small flathead screwdriver, you can easily pry the spring out of the mag release and it stays retained, but behind the mag release.

Pull out the mag release and insert new mag release - hopefully a Tango Down Vickers Release - and use the screwdriver tip to move the spring out of the way - allows new release to clear.

Then, use screwdriver to guide the straight spring back into the new mag release channel.

I highly recommend the Tango Down Vickers Mag Release AND they have a new Glock Extended Slide Release - Vickers designed by Tango Down.  Both are available on Larry Vickers Website via Net Tac.

Good luck!
