I posted a while back about Fed 180 range ammo suddenly not feeding in my Glock 23 and G 27. I thought the round was nose diving, hanging on the feed ramp. I could pull the slide back slightly and it would feed.
I went to the range today and had it happen several times again. Looked like the slide just wasn't coming back far enough. I did drop in Glockworx trigger lits in both but I don't see how that would cause this problem. The recoil spring on the G23 has been in there a while. Probably 2000 rounds on it. Am I suddenly limp wristing my Glocks? WTF? I've shot Glocks for years, carried Glocks on duty. The same G23 I have now was my duty weapon. I don't understand what has happened. I shoot every week. Any ideas? Dave |

Thats the thing. I had a TLR on the G23 so I can't grip it like I normally would but again, I used this as a duty weapon and qualified every year with the light on.
But the G27 only has about 600 rounds down it. I took the light off and it was better but still had some mis feeds. It has to be me. |

Try a new recoil spring and a new magazine spring without the light...both these springs need to be replaced Also put the stock trigger bar back in, the top part of the metal of the trigger bar has been known to rub under the slide and causing all sorts of issues |

If you are firing a lighter loaded round, then you might be anticipating the recoil. Limp wristing as you call it. This will blunt some of the slide action, causing the short stroke.
I saw this same thing happen to a man with a Barretta 92, case not being picked up by the slide. He asked me to fire the pistol and 5 rounds went down range, no problem. I watched as he fired, his arms were pulling back to absorb the recoil, thus causing the short stroke. |

I've been shooting so many AR's lately I guess I better concentrate on the Glock. Never had this issue but it started with the Fed 180 gr. Walmart ammo. I'm out now so I'll try something else.
It did happen with Magtech 180 gr. also. I did tear the pistol down and found something interesting. I pulled the slide apart and the extractor out. Now I can't imagine this was in there all this time but I found the extractor spring jammed sideways in the hole for the plunger. I found this when I tried to put the plunger back in and it wouldn't go. |
| I think the dreaded Glock limp wrist issue has much more to do with ammo than with actually improper technique. I have purposefully tried to get my Glock 21SF to limp wrist malfunction while shooting Federal LE HST +P 230 grains and the gun just won't have it. In anticipation of my LEOSA qualification, I even tried to get it to limp wrist malfuntion with my off hand since you are required to make some 3 yard shots with weak hand only. Guess what? Cycled every round with no issues. That is not to say that there isn't something mechanical wrong with your gun, but I believe you are saying it is happening with both a 23 and 27. Sounds like someone skimped on the powder for the range ammo. |
