I was at the local gun shop today, and the owner showed me his personal Glock 21 with a grip  reduction, and a beaver tail. I was curious if there are any cons to these modification to the weapon? Does the reduction in the grip area weaken the frame to cause any long term issues? I have a Glock 30 SF, and Glock 21 SF on order, I am now wondering if I should get the standard model 30, and 21 and have the reductions done to fit my hand better? I would be looking at having this done to my 19 to better fit my girl, and to the 30, and 21.

I was curious if there are any cons to these modification to the weapon?  I think the main "con" is resale value.  It seems that Glocks with stipple-jobs and/or grip reductions don't sell very quickly if the owner wants to get rid of it.  I watched a great condition Glock 19 with a professional grip reduction sit at a very reasonable price for quite a long time over on GlockTalk last year.  The seller had at least 2 pages of "bumps", and no buyers.  Of course, this is only an issue if you ever plan on selling it.  But still something to keep in mind.

Does the reduction in the grip area weaken the frame to cause any long term issues?  I haven't heard of any issues, personally.  But I would recommend sticking with people who know what they're doing when it comes to grip reductions.  I hear great things about Cold Bore Customs, and I knows there a handful of other companies who people recommend.  I'm sure someone can add some other names.

I think since I am not concerned about the resale value. I will have the 19 done first and then the 21.

I have a 30SF with a grip reduction by Cold Bore Customs and I am VERY happy with it. I am thinking of getting a 21SF and will send it straight to Coldbore Customs.
I have had 0 problems with my 30SF and I figure if reductions were a problem, we would have heard about it by now.

I'm on a waiting list for Boresight Solutions for some work. I've met Ben personally and took a Carbine class with him and his work is outstanding. Google his website and read the testimonials..You'll see a bunch of positive feedback from some very well known people..

I don't see how it could weaken the frame considering the void is filled with epoxy to make it solid instead of hollow.
