| What are the differences between RTF and RTF2 the two? |
|
Quoted:
"RTF" is the traditional gen 3 grip texture. "RTF2" has the sand paper type texture. Some like it and others hate it, but it is what it is. What he said. Gen 1 Glocks have the smooth textured frame. Gen 2, 2.5 & 3 Glocks have the RTF (rough textured frame) Gen 3 Glocks can be had with the RTF2, a more aggressive frame texture than the RTF. Gen 4 Glocks have the RTF3, a rough textured frame in between the RTF and RTF2. |

My department went to Glocks last June (from the Beretta 96FS). At the time the Gen4 22 had just become available, but the Gen4 23 and 27 had not arrived yet. When the brass hats ordered the guns, they ordered primarily Gen4 22s for patrol, some RTF2 23s for command staff and investigators, and some regular Gen3 27s for investigators who wanted the smaller gun.
Not knowing that the 23s would be RTF2 guns, I requested a 23 rather than a Gen4 22. I'm a supervisor on patrol, but for some reason my request was granted and I got a RTF2 23. I'm sold on the RTF2. I like it much better than either the standard Gen3 or the Gen4. Its too bad that Glock seems to have dropped the RTF2 in favor of the Gen4. Luckily I've managed to locate a RTF2 17 and a RTF2 22, now I just need to find a RTF2 19 and I'll be set. As best as I can tell there was never a RTF2 26, so I had to settle for a Gen4 26. |
