| AA or TacSol? It is for a 3rd gen G17 and I want it right now. (glockstore has AA back ordered 7+ months) |
| If you can find Remington Golden bullets or CCI mini mags buy the AA kit. First reports I read on Tac Sol kit was they were having functioning problems. I haven't seen a Tac Sol in person but I know Cabella's was selling the Tac Sol for the Glock 17/22/31/35/34 pistols when they were first released. I wouldn't recommend a Ciener kit for a Glock but if you can find a Tac Sol I'd buy one just from what I've read about TS customer service. I think Tac Sol will stand behind them. If you have any problems I think Tac Sol can get these working as good as any other 22 conversion. |
| I have heard about the problems with the Tac Sol's but like you I have always heard great things about them as a company. Which is not the reputation that Ciener has so I will stay clear of those. I shoot remington and federal bulk packs. I dont like buying the pricier CCI for .22lr because I only plink. |

CCI Blazer has functioned in my rimfires and .22 conversions when Fed bulk and other offerings would not run. I've not had good luck at all with Rem. GBs. |

I have a AA kit for a G17 and G19. It shoots anything but thunderbolts reliably. http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii81/dphill15/194.jpg It's a gas man! Are those Blazers plated? |

Where is the cheapest place to get this Advantage Arms kit? The question is where can you find one. The only ones I've seen are for the G-29/30. Yeah, that is another thing that has me leaning towards the Tac Sol. A threaded barrel is kind of cool as well. |

I've had great results with my AA 19/23 with Federal Bulk, CCI Blazers, and Remington Golden Bullets. The only issues I've had with the kit were with Remington Subsonics. I'm going to have to try Fed Bulk Pak again. Mine didn't work, but it's from an old stash and could be made differently than today's batches. |

Here's my take on it. I have an AA kit but have not seen a TacSol kit in person. The TacSol kit is supposed to have 2 advantages, the steel slide and higher capacity mags. I will admit, the aluminum slide of the AA does make the gun too light so in that sense the steel slide of the TacSol should be a plus? I wonder about that though because these kits are blowback designs and I know the AA kit works best with hi-velocity ammo (and that's with an Aluminum slide) so I really wonder how standard or low velocity ammo is going to cycle with TacSol's steel slide? I guess time will tell?
As far as the mags go, The TacSol was supposed to come with 15rd flush fit mags made by BlackDog and originally BD said they would work in either kit (TacSol or AA). The mags they released are not flush fit, are stated as 15rd but I hear they only do 13 reliably and the jury is still out as far as them working with the AA kit? As for threaded barrels, yes you can order a TacSol kit with a threaded barrel but you can also buy an extended barrel for the AA kit and have it threaded. More of a PITA that way but still cheaper in the end. I've had my AA kit for about 2 years now and have learned a couple of things about it. I think the biggest thing that screws people up with them is, you can't run them like a standard Glock. Glocks run the same clean or dirty and prefer only a small amount of lube. Not so with the AA kit. They work best when well lubed, like almost dripping wet. They also run better clean so the dirty it gets the more likely you are to have issues. Lastly it is ammo sensitive in the sense that it really likes hi-velocity ammo the best. AA recommends CCI Mini-Mags and Remington Golden Bullets. I think the Remington's are junk and the Mini-Mags are pricey so I recommend CCI Blazers which is the same round as the Mini-Mag but without the coating on the bullet. A good alternative is Federal's AutoMatch which AA also recommends now |
| I've had my Advantage Arms .22 kit since they came out over 10 years ago. It runs great with CCI minimags or Remmy golden bullets. Won't function with fed bulk or winchester ammo. I had mine threaded by Aquila precision for my AAC Pilot suppressor. It was my favorite host until I started having bullet tumble issues. The factory barrel was not bored perfectly so even though the threads are concentric to the bore, the rounds tumble with the can on. It's a fun plinker. |
