I just bought a second generation glock - a glock 22. I couldn't pass it up for $300. I like the no finger grooves and that fact that it is my first full size glock.
I am thinking of sending it in to Glock to get the slide and barrell refinished for $60. They will also replace springs and any other internal parts that need it. For another $60 I can have them add night sights. So for about $160 with shipping I think I will have a close to new condition gen 2 with nightsights. Off course that puts my total cost to almost that of a new one. Anyone use this service? Is it dumb to invest that much in an older generation 2? |

I bought mine from from an individual. I actually made an even trade of a fairly new sigma 9mm for a 2nd gen glock 22. I have been steadily selling all my non glocks and replacing them with glocks.
I really tried to like other guns but glocks ease of use, handling, durability and the fact I shoot them better than anything else has won out. I love the grip angle that others hate. I shoot my glocks better than any other gun I have owned. I have even sold my Sigs and only HK off for glocks and gone to one operating system. My g32 weighs less than a sig 239 and has 2x the mag capacity and no da/sa pull. Sig sure looks sexy but glock just gets it done. |

I have a G2 Glock 17 that I really like, and just picked up in a trade a G2 Glock 19, that I love..For me the G2's fit my hand better, seems like
the G3 finger grooves were were not made for my hands...I had a G2 G-19 and let it get away from me several yaers ago, and missed it ever since. I had tried 2 different G3 G-19's but swapped them off, they were just not the same to me...well, I am happy once again. |

Do Gen 2's drop free if you use the latest magazines? My friend has a Gen 2 and the mags it came with do not drop free. But I was curious if you put a modern Gen 3/4 mag in there if they would. The early Glock mags were designed NOT to drop-free per specificaton of the Austrian military. The later full-metal-lined mags drop free. |

My first Glock (and first firearm purchase) was my 2nd gen G17. That was 20 years ago. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/Bullitt3401/DSC06828.jpg I bought my Gen II 17 back in 1995. It's still one of my favorite Glocks and my first "real" handgun. |
| Like many others above, my primary daily carry gun is a Gen2 G19, mine was made in 1992- with a 2-letter prefix and a 3-digit serial number. It's all stock except for a butt plug and Mepro sights (green front, orange rears). I definitely like it but if someone local offered to trade an equivalent Gen 3 I'd probably swap- just so it matches my 17. I kinda like the finger grooves. |

I have a Dec of 89 "KL" G19 that is my carry gun.
I've had it for about 7 years now and I've slowly replaced every single part besides the locking block just for the sake of getting it upgraded. The only thing I don't like about it is that you do have to hold it pretty firm when shooting plinking ammo or it will FTE at times so there are times a new shooter can't run it 100%. |

Are you running a stock recoil spring? I've never heard of that before. |

Hell, just out of our group of shooting buddies glock 9mm's we've seen 3 now act this way. If I hold it with one hand and a really loose grip, I can get my gen 2 to fail to eject everytime. Not a gen2 thing btw, some are just more fussy then others no matter what gen they are. If you google "glock limp wrist test", there's youtube vids documenting this. |

G17 Gen2 bought in 1996 I think. First Glock I ever bought. Still have it. Used it in IPSC shooting for about a year back around 2000. Had some upgraded parts installed. Lost count of how many rounds fired through this pistol with....ZERO malfunctions. Is a Gen2 worth it? Yes they are!

I have always had accuracy, sometimes limp wristing issues with gen 3 glocks when I quick draw them. I can't seem to get a good grip on the draw, I have to adjust my hands after drawing to get a good grip. This means time, and time is bad in a practical pistol match or self defense scenario. When my hands match the finger grooves, my palm is too low on the pistol. I then shot a gen 2. No issues what so ever. Every time I draw, the pistol comes up and is on target. Needless to say, I love gen 2 now and hate gen 3. |
