If an LEO went through the process of ordering a new Glock from Ed's Public Safety, and it was on the way.....and then fell on hard times and needed the money back, could it be transferred from the receiving FFL to a non-LEO?  Or is it somehow tied to that officer's name?

The way I see it, once it hits the receiving FFL, it could be transferred to anyone, no?  Maybe I'm missing something.  I don't know how the LEO discount procedure works.

Anyone got any idea?

I dont know how it works for an FFL that isnt a Glock LEO dealer. The shop I work in is a Glock LEO dealer and in order for us to maintain that status, Glock requires that we photocopy and fax the buyer's credentials to ensure that the end user is actually a qualified buyer. Glock started this when they found that dealers were buying the LE guns and then taking out the extra magazines and selling the guns for commercial prices.

Couldn't your transferring dealer purchase it from you or sell it on consignment?

So you are a qualified LEO and purchase the Glock from a LE dealer on your credentials.  The LE dealer either transfers it to you or the receiving dealer of your choice.  At that point, you have purchased the pistol and met the LE dealer's requirement for the program.  Whatever you or the receiving dealer do from that point is your business.  I would request you not abuse this purchase program to act as a proxy buyer for those not qualified, because if you mess it up for the rest of us... I swear...

Of course, I may be completely wrong, but I can't see how.

ETA: To answer your question about the process...  When I have purchased LE Glocks, the dealer photocopied my agency credentials and kept a copy for their records.  I asked what they did with them, and they told me they were kept in house unless Glock had some reason they wanted to audit their program.  At that point, they could produce proof that all of the blue label guns went to qualified buyers.  I've only bought LE Glocks at local dealers, but I'm assuming Ed's needs your credentials faxed or scanned before they can complete the sale.

you buy it from the leo after he takes delivery, he gets his money back and you're on your way.

my blue label g30 was purchased from a leo with phoenix pd.

Stupid question: do these discounts apply to military as well? This is for $100 off, right?
5/21/2011 4:23:54 PM EDT

Glock actually gives discounts to a wide array of Police, Fire, EMS, Military (Active, Reserve and Retired) As well as commercial pilots, GSSF members. There is a list normally kept at most Glock dealers about who can get discounts.

Going back to the OP question - Probably not, glock labels and prices the LE/Discount guns separately - It would have to go to another person who qualifies for the discounted price

Last time i checked, here is how it worked (at least up here in WA )

Normally a Glock (Non 45-10-Long Slide) would cost from Glock or a Distributor approx $4*0 and the dealer would mark up appropriately

With a LE/Mil/Discount Glock (Non 45-10-Long Slide) the cost is right around $3*0 and Glock has a suggested "Officer" price - The shop can choose to follow the "officer" price or not

Larger calibers, longs slides and night sights will always change the price.

The cost is fixed, but it is up to the shop on how to price

If the FFL that you are having the Glock shipped to is a Glock dealer and sales a LEO Glock to a non-LEO/Mil Glock, Glock could take all their pistols for the sell if they found out.

Cool. Thanks. I'm in the market for a service pistol and a Model 17 would definitely be something I would consider. If I were to go the .40 route, I'd probably get one of the many used Model 22s floating around.

Not looking to "abuse" the purchase program.  A guy I work with ordered a Glock from Ed's with qualified officer credentials (C.O.) and had it shipped to his FFL.  Literally right after it shipped, he ran into a personal situation and mentioned that he could really use the money back.  I'm interested in it, thus the creation of this thread.

A private FTF would be ideal if it's the only option.

He's a "kitchen table FFL", and doesn't stock Glocks at all.

the le trade-in had factory ns, now blue label glocks delivered to dealers don't have ns.

yes, without nite sites and then add in the gssf fee to the $425, isn't it $35 or so and you only get to buy 1/year.

i can buy as many new blue label glocks at glockmeister/year that i want/need.
