If the striker is not forward when attempting to replace the slide assembly, the slide will fail to go all the way back onto the frame.

This can be corrected either by pushing in the firing pin safety and moving the striker forward, or by pushing the trigger into its forward position before attempting to replace the slide.

None of my gen 3 glocks do this, they go back together nicely regardless of the striker position. A Google search did little to help me figure this out.

FYI:

Glock is going to "Update" their Armorers Manual to state:

Prior to putting the slide back on push the trigger assembly forward & then install the slide.

Been this way since they came out.  It's gets easier as the gun wears. I don't have to do anything extra  to put my G22 slide on after 2500rds of use.

Interesting.  My 3rd gen G23 manual specifically states NOT to push the trigger assembly forward while the gun is disassembled.

That's gayer than aids.

I've never had this problem on mine.

My 4th gen 19 does it but not any of my other Glocks.
