I just picked up a 2nd Gen Glock 32 and my FFL is telling me that he had never seen one up to that point and tells me that they are rare.

Does anyone have any info on this. This website http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1287557#post4622212 is showing that only 2nd gen. serial numbers starting with CFP made in May,97 07 to be 2nd Gen...

Any Ideal of how many were made?

Thanks,

Matthew

and yours falls into that SN range? and it is may 97 not 07. would have been less than 1000 made.

Yes, mine is in that S# range. I guess I hit 07 rather than 97

When Glock Inc. introduced the the .357 SIG models in the late Spring of 1997, they made a few runs of both Glock 31's and Glock 32's before the introduction of the "new" frame in January/February of 1998, what would later be called the "3rd Generation" Glocks.  Most were made in Lot's of 1000, per their usual manufacturing model.  These early, 2nd Generation G31's and 32's had the updated front, lower frame-rail reinforcements (additional metal) that was introduced across the board on all 9mm/40S&W large and medium-frame pistols from approx. May 1997 onward until today (G17,G19,G22,G23 ect).

Most of the full-size Second Generation Glock 31's appear to have been sold to LE agencies at the time, judging on what I've seen over the years.  The Second Generation Glock 32's are less common.  I've never seen the hard numbers from Glock Inc so the following is only a rough guess:  Approx. 2,000 Second Generation G31's made and imported.  Approx. 1,000 to 2,000 Second Generation Glock 32's came to the States.  Most, if not all were imported in the Summer of 1997.  Good luck.

dosn't work that way. you have to upload them to a place like imageshack or photobucket and then link them.

Glock updated the frame with extra steel reinforcements in the sub frame after the .357sig. I am not sure if the 2nd gen had this so I would be careful with hot loads like Double Tap or Buffalo Bore but most factory loaded ammo is a pussyfoot.
