so what should the approximate trade in value of a used gen 3 glock 23 be?  I will be trading my used glock 23 for a new gen 4 23.

A lot depends on how well used Glocks sell in your area and how many the dealer you are trading with has on hand.

I would say $300 seems to be the average for a used Gen 3 G23 with stock sights and 2 mags.

What's your Gen 3 G 23 have with it?  How many mags are going with it, nights sights or no?  How many rounds thru it?

I find that trade ins are probably worth about 60% of what it will sell for used. That is just the stock weapon itself. Accessories hold their value better

Sure you can get a decent amount during a private sale.  The reality is that a gun store will give you between $300 and $350 for it.  That is if it is like new.

^If you're lucky.  There was just a thread in here last week about a guy who tried to trade his 22 in with crimson trace grips and they wouldn't offer more than $250.  The grips alone would be worth $200.

The glock 22 market is flooded with police trades so it hurts the value . A Glock 23 is more desirable to concealed carry guys.
