OK folks, I am hearing my inner GLOCK voice call to me. It is telling me to get the model 38! I have been researching the .45 GAP more and I really think the G38 will please me very well.

My favorite model thus far is the 23. I like the 19 too. And the G38 being the same size frame, with the .45 GAP cartridge, I feel I need to add it to my collection of GLOCKs.

I would like to hear some of your opinions/input on the pistol. Any problems out of them. I can't seem to find any threads that would indicate anything other than normal GLOCK goodness.

What are ya'll's thoughts on the model 38?

Let's not get into a .45 GAP caliber pissing contest. I like the round. Just looking for info on the GLOCK 38.

Thanks guys.

You aren't wanting to get into a pissing contest about the round, but that is what makes it the 38. You might as well just ask what everyone thinks about a Glock in general.

My G38 was one of only two Glocks I've ever parted with (out of many), but it was the caliber more than the gun itself –– it ran flawlessly and I found it controllable.

I have freakishly small hands for such a big guy, my G19 (my primary CCW for almost 20 years now) fits me perfectly, and I absolutely loved the idea of .45ACP performance out of a package the very same size.

But I don't reload.  GAP ammo was almost nonexistent locally when I bought my G38 and stilll scarce/expensive when I traded it away.  I realized that I was never going to practice enough with it to feel comfortable enough with it for it to replace my G19s for CCW.  If I didn't have my own range/shoot and practice as much as I do it still might have been a viable choice, but I was also embarking upon a multi-year effort to eliminate all of my full-sized pistols that weren't either 9mm or .45ACP (one more 10mm gone and I will finally be completely done with that).

But absolutely no complaints whatsoever with the gun itself.  If the above concerns don't dissuade you, my guess is a G38 would serve you very well indeed.

I have not had a chance to rent a G38 yet. Does it have the same "soft" recoil feel as the G21 or G30?

It felt a bit more pronounced to me, but not unmanageably so.  Plenty comfortable to shoot.

Cool. Thanks for your insight.

I think I gotta have one.

Check out the Bull Dawgs Forum on Glock Talk.  It is dedicated to the 45GAP Glocks.

I have a Glock 38 and it is my favorite Glock by far.  Ammo is available online if you can't find it locally.
