I had my Beretta PX4 Storm with some extra mags listed on Armslist. Guy across the state offed to trade me his G17.5 FS MOS straight across. After exchange of emails and pics, and a phone conversation yesterday, and a 2 1/2 hour trip to meet him half way this morning. I think it’s definitely worth the drive and trade. He already did a 25 cent trigger job and installed a Taran Tactical Ultimate connector. Now just need to get some 10-8 sights ordered for it and will be good to go. I’m more of a iron sights guy, but it’s nice to have the MOS option.

Re: recoil impulse, it’s noticeable, but IMHO, not enough to matter.
At the same time I’m not a competition pistolero, and I’ll freely admit, I don’t shoot pistols as much as I’d like to as the primary focus of most of what I do is long gun-based. As to why the Micro versus RMR or DPP for NV use specifically—it gets down to NV compatible settings and battery life, the DPP has no “true” NV settings, and the RMR only has two to the Micro’s four. I also find the Micro’s dot slightly easier to find under NVGs (kind of like a Micro versus and EOTech on a long gun—not a massive difference, but a slight one). Non-NV specific, the large window and fully enclosed optic are nice as well, and you again get more brightness settings and better battery life than the ACRO. I do have a DPP on my G19. The downsides of the Micro are all more or less related to the brightness adjustment rheostat in and that it’s not exactly well placed for a right handed pistol shooter, and protrudes out to the side in a fairly vulnerable position, and there aren’t really any good holsters (i.e. Safariland ALS) that will accept one without modifications and be able to fully protect it. Finally, that slide mounting is hard on optics is no secret, and the Micro is not immune. ~Augee |
