CC noob is me.  I've had the license for 5 years, to carry the Uzi Jericho .40 in the vehicle.

Not sure where to begin here.  I'm not a very big dude, 5ft8in 175lbs.  I dont rhave very big hands either  I'm guessing I'll have to get a much smaller pistol, thinking the PPK in .380 if I can find one.

My biggest problem is my clothing/lifestyle.  I work out 5 days a week, and have gotten my metabolism up pretty high, so Im pretty hot all the time, so I usually wear those thin breathable  golf shirts and I have to tuck in at work.

CCW at work is immed fireable.  Not even supposed to have in the vehicle on company property but...

Do I need to try to hide it in my pants?  Is that an option?

in general, CCW is usually best done (as in comfort, concealability, and access) with an IWB holster; i recommend strong side, IWB, slightly aback of the side of the hip (appendix is also good, esp w/ smaller framed guns)

the main things you need (besides training and practice), is a good concealment rig––get a quality, form fitting holster (one that will retain its shape, secure/cover the trigger guard, etc––will be kydex, leather, hybrid), a dedicated gun belt (double thickness, etc), and proper attire (like wider pants, looser shirts, etc)

there are several tuckable holsters out there, check out comptac, raven concealment, bladetech, crossbreed––all offer great, comfortable IWBs

As an aside––-plenty of people your size and smaller carry larger weapons than a PPK with ease.  You just have to select a weapon and holster that fit you, and adjust your dress habits a bit.

Carrying is a lifestyle.  Once you get used to it it will be like second nature-like carrying your phone.

An IWB, Inside the WaistBand, holster would be ideal for you IMO. Also, IMO, your vehicle is YOUR PROPERTY not the company you work for. There will always be a job out there, you only have 1 life.

Have you posted in your "Hometown" forum???

I have no idea what Georgia's carry laws are.

I am a Probation Officer and my Department forbids us to carry. I carry in my vehicle. I also carry a NAA 22 LR revolver in my pocket. Look at the NAA PUG in 22 magnum. This is probably not the best option but it is better than nothing.  Or look at a Rugar LCP for pocket carry.

My regular carry gun is a USPc .40, however I do carry a full size M&P 9, and a Sig 229.  I can even carry my USP .45 but I've never left the house.  I am 5'6" and 148lbs.  By far the best investment is a good holster, I run a Crossbreed for my USPc, the M&P rides in an MTAC, and the 229 rides in a CTAC

Whatever you choose for a firearm, get a good holster and wear it around the house for a couple weeks. Make sure to do all sorts of activities and actions in front of the mirror to see how well the gun hides and what actions cause it to print on your clothes. Then start wearing it out, just not to work yet.

As soon as you're comfortable wearing it out, wear it to work. Last thing you want to do is have a rookie mistake by buying a holster and a pistol, putting it on and going to work the first day. They take a little getting used to.

That said, you can take my advice with a grain of salt as I feel the responsibility to say this: I'm not carrying yet. I hope I'll be corrected if anything I've said is blatantly wrong. I've had my holster and I've been carrying around the house for a month waiting for my carry license to show up. I've actually forgotten the pistol has been on my hip, and run to Taco Bell for dinner.....twice....and I'm carrying a 5" 1911. Good holster is worth the money you spend on it.

If it is not allowed at work, get a new job or do not do it at work. That being said, your car is your property so I would leave it in the car (in a lock box) while at work.

Do you have any hips? Slimmer people (with no ass/hips like me) can have a real issue keeping their pants up with 40 ounces of steel in their belt. If you are like me you will need a good belt and holster to remedy this problem. I also suggest something with 2 belt clips on a larger gun since it helps spread the weight.

You can easily conceal a Commander size 1911, Glock 19, M&P Compact 45, or M&P 9c but you will have to review your clothes and adjust accordingly.

I have a PPK/s and it is easy to conceal but I dislike the 380 as my main defensive weapon and it really is not hard to hide the other choices I listed above.

thanks everyone for all the tips.  I think that smartcarry holster is the way to go for me.  In GA, at a business location I cannot be arrested for carrying on private property unless they ask me to leave and I do not make a reasonable attempt to leave.  I can carry in a car in a parking lot if it is open to the public.  My work location has a parking lot dedicated for visitors I park in.  I wont carry into work as I have a really good and paying job I will not risk losing.  Im still going to stick with the smaller PPK though, hell its the Bond gun (even though not the exact caliber)

Kind of heavy for a .380. Might want ot check out the PPS9, Kahr PM9 and P380, Ruger LCP, Diamondback .380(?new?), etc.

I would not wear it to work without permission.  Why risk it?  If not just ask your boss what kind of gun and rig they carry to work.

I won't comment on whether to carry at work. My employer has a "no weapons" policy too , and , well , no comment .

Everyone's statements here are true. It becomes a lifestyle changing decision. Ultimately , clothing changes , choices on where to go and how to behave change , overall attention and situational awareness rises , etc. Your build will not prevent you from carrying many weapon options , as long as they're carried in a good rig/belt/outfit combo.

I am not a fan of .380 at all , for valid reasons. And , I don't like micro-autos either. I'd consider a J-Frame for deep concealment. Much better round , just as easy to hide , fires reapeatadly from a pocket with no action to hang up and is super reliable. A j-frame in a pocket holster in a front pants pocket can be with you any time , anywhere.
