I know the importance of a good gun belt. Anyone have experience with the Blackhawk CQC belts, Safariland, 5.11 belts? They are all around $40 and I'd like to get one if they are worth the money, but if they are half ass pieces of junk I don't want one.

I have a couple wilderness instructioner's (one black, one tan), a couple rafter-T's, and a crossbreed with velcro. All do their job but the WI black gets more time on my hip than the others.

Yup, I thought the $80 would hurt the first time also.

I am about to buy a second one!

I do love my Comp-Tac Belt!

I have both of these belts as well. They serve slightly different roles, but both are terrific.

I'm a huge fan of Comp Tac belts however; Comp-Tac's  customer service on their holsters  has been found lacking lately.

If you've got problems with a Comp-Tac holster one year and a day after buying it you're on your own.

Crossbreed will stand 100 % behind their product for a lifetime.

I got one of the Comp-Tac contour belts recently. I was a little worried that it was going to be so stiff as to grind my hip bones into dust because I'm fairly slim, but it isn't. I've been wearing the belt around while I'm waiting for my CHL to show up in the mail and I think I'd have trouble coming up with a better belt. The only caveat is that depending on what brand of pants you wear, the double belt-end holder loops (technical term) might force you to wear the buckle off center because they are spaced fairly widely.

If they would just stop screwing up the shipping on all my orders I'd be happy.

I had the 5.11 belt It didnt last to long. I carry a heavy load ....Glock 17 IWB and 2 spare mags and handcuffs. i found the Wilderness Instructor belt works fine. I paid $42.00 for the CSM belt.

I have both the Wilderness Instructor and the 5.11 belt.  I really prefer the Wilderness Instructor.  It seems to be more comfortable and is plenty rigid enough to hold your holster and magazines.

For situations where I have to be more dressed up (ie. business casual), I really like the Coronado Leather gun belts, lifetime warranty, and nothing about it says tactical.  Fits right in as an everyday belt.

I just got a Galco Matrix belt the other day.  It was about $25.  I'm happy with it so far.  It's made of a flexible yet stiff platic-like material, similar to the Liger belts I think.  It's very thin and lightweight, not like some of the leather belts out there.  I will eventually get a decent leather belt, but this should work fine in the meantime.  I also just ordered a 5-stitch Wilderness Instructor belt to try, it was $39.95.  The 5-stitch upgrade is free right now.

I've got a Milt Sparks belt I've been wearing for close to 10 years.A good gun belt is easily worth $80.

Me too.

Recently purchased on sale for $39.95 each.  My first actual "gun belts" and man...what a difference.  Not only keeps the weapon nice an snug against the body, but weight distribution seems much improved as well...unless I'm just imagining things.

Comp Tac runs a sale every so often, I notice.  I got a good gun belt from the for 50 bucks.  They last.  Probably the first or second belt you will ever buy for a long time.

I have two 5.11 belts that came for free with my pants, and a wilderness tactical belt.  The 5.11 belts work for what I carry, a gun and extra mag, but the finish on them is wearing.  The wilderness tactical belt is great, and much more sturdy. it just doesn't look as dressy.

I have a coule 5.11 belts.  Their nylon instructor type and their 1.5" (fake?) leather.  The nylon has been holding up pretty well carrying my 1911 (Pro, and before that my full railed stupidly heavy TRP Operator) and three mags (I'm trying to hone my "gunshop commando" look!)
Their leather one isn't quite so nice.  It's surface isn't nearly as durable as any decent leather belt I've seen from Galco, or the one I used to use from PWL.

I have two 5.11 belts, the Operator and the Instructor. The Instructor is the smaller less rigid one, and is 1.5 I believe. While the Operator is 1.34. I much more prefer the Operator since its is more rigid and I feel it holds the weight better. I also have a Blackhawk! riggers belt. That thing is flimsy as hell. There is zero stiffener in that belt. I have since stopped wearing it and only really wear the 5.11 Operator (black). I would like to get a few different belts to try out, the Comp-Tac one included.

I really like the LIGER belt from maxpedition - been using it for 3 years and it's very stiff and nice enough for business casual

When it comes to rigger belts, I like OSOE...AMAZING video here LOL

I just tried to get on the site but couldn't. However, you can order the instructor belt from Dillon precision and midway. Plus others I am sure.

I just received a Comptac belt tonight and I can honestly say yeah it's $80, but I truly don't see this belt having any issues that it won't last many many years. By far one of the more well built belts one can buy, I tried it on with my G19 and M-Tac and it is perfect.

I use a wilderness instructor tan belt 7 days a week and its the perfect compromise between stiffness and comfort. I routinely carry a fullsize 1911 and a Keltec p11 with this belt and it performs well.
