I know the question has been asked and answered, but I have a little bit of a different spin on it...
I fully understand and appreciate the "dress around the gun and not the other way around" concept. However, my job has an informal "uniform" policy. Nothing fancy, just a company polo shirt, which must be tucked in, and regular straight legged jeans. I can't seem to find a good IWB option that isn't blatantly obvious with the tucked in shirt. I've tried wearing a size larger in both the shirt and the jeans. I've tried different size guns. I've borrowed a couple different types of holsters. Ankle holsters are better than nothing, but the accessibility leaves a lot to be desired. Living in Florida limits jackets for all but a couple months out of the year. I have considered trying a belly band, but I can't imagine that being very comfortable with the amount of driving I do. I'm running out of options...does anyone have any suggestions? I figure I have time for one more round of edits to the Christmas list...might be a good time to ask for a new holster, belly band, etc A little more info: I'm 6'4, 200 lbs...average build. I've tried concealing my 1911, S&W 66, S&W 642 and Sig 229. I'm not opposed to buying another gun (any excuse actually) but I really never felt comfortable with my grip on the smaller guns. So, what do y'all think? Any advice on holsters, positions or guns would be appreciated. |
| Get one of those holsters that wrap around your chest under your shirt. I can't remember the name but saw one demonstrated once - guy pulled a 4" revolver and a full-size auto out from under his armpits through the neck of his shirt. You couldn't tell they were there and he didn't have to untuck his shirt. |

I honestly never wore one, but I wonder how secure it would be. Is this the same type you're thinking of? When I'm not at work, and have a little more leway in the wardrobe, I do pocket carry in my coat, slacks or cargo pants. If I'm not wearing the cargo/carpenter type jeans, I'm not having much luck with it. |

Belly Band, tuckable IWB, pocket carry of a couple of J-frames or a couple of subcompact autos. Tuckable A_IWB works well with some compact autos too. This^ covers it. For pocket carry there was a thread in the Kahr section about cutting out the pockets in jeans since they're so small and sewing square cargo pockets inside???????? |

Planning on one for my PPK/S or G26 $50ish from 5.11 black or white http://www.511tactical.com/browse/Home/Law-Enforcement/511-Undergear/Tops/Holster-Shirt/D/30100/P/1:100:10000:10800:10801/I/40011
I use a Galco SkyOps for my FS 1911, can tuck in a shirt inbetween the holster/gun and the hooks that hold it to the belt. |

Have done a lot of options suggested. Galco belly band holster... liken to wearing a girdle .... screw that. It's in a box somewhere. 5.11 holster shirt. The only way I can stand wearing it is over a t-shirt. Can hide two 1911s in that.... doesn't breath well .... too damn hot .... worn next to skin it feels like ur wrapped in plastic. GALCO sky-ops is the only solution I've found so far that doesn't make an obvious bulge carrying my 1911. Worn middle of back it's comfortable and concealed with no print. Can't tell it's there. Downside.... slow, ackward draw. Have ordered a Milt Sparks VM2 IWB that I'm sure is going to leave a bulge on right hip. My daily enviroment requires blue jeans and button down shirt tucked neatly inside an 1 1\2 belt. Wearing 5.11 Commando clothing or printing is simply not an option. Hope that carry experience helps. P.S. done the mouse pistol in jeans pocket too...... rule of 40 and notion of bring enough gun is ignored. |
| Well if not pocket carry for your J-frame, then I say get a different pistol. I mean I am 5'07" 160 and I CC a G30 with a Crossbreed SuperTuck with no problem. Are you sure your not being paranoid about it? Im a Glock guy so I'm using them as an example: Try a G26/27 IWB with either the aforementiond Crossbreed, or a MTAC. |

I carry a XD 45c in a crossbreed supertuck with a tucked in polo all the time. No one has EVER noticed. I am looking to get a crossbreed for my Glock 22 so I can carry that one too (depending on my mood). |

I would suggest this too. I carry a PPS in a Minotaur. 95% of the time I can conceal it on my hip, but if I have a fitted shirt on, I carry it in the back. For those of you who will bellyache about it being hard to access, I practice drawing it from back there and am pretty proficient at it. |
| i've heard that AIWB, when done right, can be the best option for concealment and ease of motion... you don't get the problem w/ printing if bending over to pick something up, etc... however i must caution that i haven't tried this, so i'd also be interested in some AIWB insight/holsters/options/pics from others on this topic.. |

Is it a violation of company policy to carry? I ask because if it is then it likely rules out any tuckable that uses straps, j-hooks, or any other widget that can be seen at the belt.
If not then as mentioned appendix carry could be a good solution, once you get used to it you don't notice your gun there any more than anywhere else and it's easier to keep track of printing since your weapon is in front of you. |

No sheep would even notice the clips no less figure out what they are. Most casual gun owners/carriers don't ever know what tuckable holsters are. |

It's more of a "don't ask don't tell" situation. Although no written policy, there are a handful in the main office that would not appreciate it if they knew. Considering I spend most of my time in the field and I don't plan on advertising the fact on the rare occasion I'm in the main office, I'm not concerned. |
