Hey guys I really like the look of the beltman belts, especially since they use chicago screws so I can change out buckles. However they do not come with a stiffener already in them like the comptac belts. The beltman website notes that a stiffener from them is usually not necessary for IWB carry. I carry a G23 most often so it is light but my question is what if I were to carry a heavy pistol like a full size 1911? Do you guys that carry full size 1911 or comparable pistols need a stiffener with your beltman belts?

Any good, somewhat rigid belt should get the job done for you.

This is what The Beltman has to say:

"INTERNAL STIFFENER:

This internal stiffener is a strip of space-age polyester inserted between the layers of bull hide before they are sewed together. This adds vertical stability which may be necessary if you carry a heavy sidearm or have a high-riding top-heavy holster.

The stiffener is not usually necessary for IWB carry. Most people do not need the stiffener but many others consider it indispensable.

The stiffener adds $10.00 to the price of the belt."

I'm among those who believe that if you're going to carry a full size pistol IWB the stiffener is indispensable.

Everyone has an opinion; but for ten bucks added to the price of a belt, what the hell.

A buddy of mine just ordered a Beltman. He called and talked to him and he said "I made belts for XX years before anyone ever asked for a stiffener. Ever after offering it, 80% of the belts I sell are without the stiffener." A good stiff belt is nice but I'd probably pass although I have a stiffener in my current belt.
