Hello

Let me start out by saying that I rotate a carry gun every couple months and I always carry OWB. I rotate a G21,G30,or a full size 1911.

Want I don't understand is I have been doing this for many years in the summer it's shorts and an untucked T. I have never been discovered or if I have no one has ever said anything.

Any way I have been reading a lot of post in many different forums and so many think that is is impossible to carry a full size 1911 or any full size for that matter.
Right belt and holster it's no problem. I just don't understand some will carry a small light gun to protect them selfs and their  families and leave the gun that is much more qualified  to do the at home. And even admit it. HELP ME UNDERSTAND?

People have different size frames?

Um because the Kel-Tec that someone will carry with them is better than the USP they left at home.

I personally carry a 5" 1911 but there are times when I grab a Kel-Tec or snubbie to toss in a pocket when I can't carry my choice gun.

I'm with you, OP, I don't understand either.  I carried a 5-inch 1911 for years, currently carrying a G17.  I'd rather carry the right gun for the job, for me, and then dress around it, rather than compromise.

I also have no problem concealing that G17................today, same as you.  Shorts, T-shirt.  Right holster, right belt does it.

But to each his own.  Some folks don't like the weight, the bulk, wearing a T-shirt big enough, etc. etc.

Some people have the idea of "concealable, carry pistol" and "other pistol, too big to carry".  I have the concept of "sidearm".

Everybody is different though.  Heck, some people may spend alot of time in an environment/type of clothing where concealing a regular size sidearm is impossible.

At least they're armed.

I am a pretty average-sized person. Although I CAN conceal a fullsize 1911, doesn't mean I enjoy doing so on a regular basis. The gun is large and heavy, and I typically do not wear excess/baggy clothing. My personal preference (and I believe this is what it basically comes down to for everyone) is to pick a gun that best suits my needs.

I have a G30SF as my daily carry. Same ammo as the 1911, smaller, carries three (or four) more rounds, and weighs much less. YMMV. Its all about the individual. What works for me might or might not work for you.

I carried a G22 for almost 10 years. I alternated between IWB and OWB. Never any issues. My kydex holster holds the gun high on my belt when I carry OWB. Switched to the G23 simply because I can carry up front IWB easier and this is my preferred position.

I have carried concealed a 5" 1911, a USP9, a G17, a P220 and a P226. I may be missing a few. It's possible, but for me the compacts are just a lot more comfortable. I carry G19 now and G26 if I've got to tuck a shirt over it.
