Okay, long story. My dad lives in NJ, theres no CCW in Jersey. Buthe ownes property in Virginia and frequently goes down. I encouraged him to get his CCW for VA for while he is there. First he was confused but I assured him just because he wasnt a resident didnt mean he couldnt get a license there.

Now he concerned that he wouldnt be allowed to transport his gun throught those states in between (PA,DE, MD). I did some poking around on the interent andim pretty sure that as long as you have the gun locked int he trunk with ammo seperate it is okay to transport a weapon through any state as long as it is for leagal purposes.

Anybody want to confirm what I am saying here.

As long as the gun is legal in the state you start in and in the state you end your trip in, and is transported according to the law of the states you travel through, you are OK. I dont think there is a state that asks for anything more secure than locked in trunk with ammo seperate....thats even how they do it in NJ.

I was confused when I was planning a trip from Iowa to Michigan. I don't recall which state, but IIRC one of them also required a trigger lock or the case to be locked, even while in the trunk. I ended up not taking the trip, so I didn't look further to clarify. Ofcourse, I could have misread after a long day at work that day. Check each State's laws.
