| I have been looking at getting either the CTAC or the MTAC. They both look like nice holsters, but does one of them have any benefits over the other? This is going to be for My G17 and it will be my first time carrying, so I am sorry if these questions are a little newbish. |

I own both. My CTAC sits in a box, while I wear my MTAC every day. The leather backing really makes it a much more comfortable holster. In the end, you will have to likely try both to see which you like better. Both are great holsters, from a great company and each has its pros/cons.
The CTAC has a slight edge in concealability for me, but the MTAC is a mile ahead in comfort. Hence my choice. |

Own both and yet another vote for MTAC. I tried putting a thin foam backing on my CTAC which helped but its no contest after a full day of carrying. MTAC is significantly better for me.
As to the concern of harder to hide, no its not. It may be larger but thats just the back that is against your body and makes no difference. |
| The C-TAC didn't fit me quite right until I took it apart and had custom leather straps made for it to make it ride where I wanted it. Since then it has been great. Comfortable walking, entering and riding in a vehicle, falling alseep in the recliner, etc. I haven't tried the MTAC so I can only offer evaluation to 50% of your question except to say that I haven't had a desire for the MTAC and if I were buying another it would probably be a C-TAC. The idea of a large slab of leather just doesn't seem necessary or as flexible of a set up to me. |

I have a CTAC for my USPc.45 and an MTAC for my 5" 1911. There is no doubt that the MTAC is more comfortable. Having the leather shield more of the gun makes it more comfortable. I've pinched my skin with the CTAC while reholstering because it doesn't cover the "top" portion of the gun. The CTAC has better reholstering though because the MTAC doesn't hold its shape as well since the back of it is soft leather. I got the CTAC first and knowing what I know now I would have bought an MTAC for the USP too. MTAC hands down over the CTAC! |
