Ok now this is a weird question but is happening to me right now.
Start of the year I was threatened by an ex with gang retalation. Went to police "we can't do anything sorry" Nothing happened. things cooled down now for a few years ive been carrying a pocket knife cause well theyre handy and can be live saving. then tonight out of no where this person i havn't even spoken to starts to threaten me with claims of a mob of people coming after me. Never seen this person before have no idea why he's threatening me. cops can't do anything. I can't carry a pistol (so ive brought a bigger knife) What would you do? I Wont even be legally allowed to purchase a pistol untill april may! and then itd still be illegal to carry it. |

What weapons are you allowed to carry? Can you carry a good defensive spray? Change up your habits a bit, don't be predictable in your routines. That doesn't mean dashing fom shadow to shadow in a ridiculous effort to not be seen....just break up your routines and make yourself difficult to pin down. The person who threatened you...who are they? Total stranger? Why would a "mob of people" have it out for you? Sounds very unlikely. Why would this person even approach you? My first reaction would probably be to tell them to go fuck themselves. Do you have associations with gangs of any kind? Friends or your ex with gang affiliations? Might want to look in to a good "walking stick". Personally, if push came to shove, I'd take a meter of oak over 8" of blade any day. |

In new zealand it is illegal to carry
A firearm Baton knive peper sprays and tasers are illegal for importation except police military and select few collectors. My ex claims to have gang affilations to an ethnic gang. an enthnicity she doesnt belong to. I also have no gang connections I have spoken to this person once or twice but i don't even know their name. My reaction was to tell him that hes more than welcome to come bash me to death but ill have my gun loaded. at which point he tried to psych me out and tried to brusie my ego calling me weak etc etc. Im not sure what ive done to piss him or anyone one off. hell even my ex left her everything then out of the blue started getting threatening text messages. I also believe the mob bit is most likely a lie but i would prefer to not take any chances. |

If someone seriously wants you dead and that person is skilled and determined you've got three choices. Kill them first, move someplace where they can never find you or die. It's probably just an empty threat, just trying to scare you. Be armed, get training and if they are really serious, and are really criminals that aren't afraid to kill, see above. |

honestly, i'd get something with a fixed blade, akin to crocodile dundee. but the guy who recommended a staff was spot on too. and the quote is :

| I am unable to descreetly carry a fixed blade while maintaining ready access to it. and openly carrying well thatd get me in a lot of trouble. I have been looking at a baton and a "legal" defencive spray called dye witness it uses a foam to dye the attackers face green and "imboilize" the attacker. it doesn't quite explain how tho. by the looks it covers their face in a self expanding foam to obscure their vision. |
