Can we now take our guns to work kept in our car on company property in Florida?
I was told we can now, its state law, and the company you work for cant repremand or fire you. Is this so, and what other states can you do this?

With a valid CCW permit, your car is recognized as an extension of your home, and you may keep your weapon in your vehicle. Your employer does not have the right to fire you or harrass you over it.

You commute to work in FL?

With all the vehicle burglaries, I would never leave weapon in a car.

The new law recently signed by Gov. Crist regarding Guns stored in your car at work does not go into effect until July 1st, providing the Lawsuits that have been filed to stop it from going into effect are disregarded.

I personally don't see this going into effect July 1st. Florida's law was patterned after the law passed in Oklahoma in 2004. The Oklahoma Law has been tied up in court since 2004 and last year a Federal Judge in Tulsa issued a permanent injunction against the law saying it violated a Federal Law meant to protect workers at their place of employment.

I personally support the Florida Law and the Oklahoma Law but the reality is I don't see either one of them going into effect anytime soon.

That's just my opinion though. I have been wrong before and I will be wrong again. But I'm not willing to bet against myself on this one.

ETA: Just get a CCW and if you have to keep it in your car at times, keep it locked in the trunk or a car safe and out of view. Carry it on you though if you can. As they say concealed is concealed.
