| I just bought a Srpingfield XD45 and will be signing up for the local CCW class soon. I want a holster to carry inside the pants for the small of my back, or the front. I think side carry would be to obvious(but that's just a newb thought). What is a quality holster for the 4" XD inside the pants? Thanks again. |

a lot of people, including myself, will not advise you to carry on the small of your back. there is a risk of spinal injury. most people carry their pistols on the strong side. i do, and i dont think its very obvious at all. i odrered one of these. CTAC IWB |
| I agree. SOB is really a PITA. Besides possible spinal injury, it's just plain unconfortable when sitting/driving. I use to carry IWB and sometimes still do, but I find that OWB works better for me. It's more confortable and I have no problem concealing that way. If you are dead set on IWB, I concur with the above post. That holster is the way to go. |

No small of the back! IWB are a great choice and www.highnoonholsters.com are my favorites and have three different models for my carry guns. |

I carry a Glock 19 IWB in a Comp-Tac CTAC, it's a great holster. Sidearmor makes a nice holster too. |

A cheapy hoster to test if you really like IWB carry is the Don Hume H715 Open Top with belt loops. I say cheapy, but it is the cheapest rig I would carry a gun in and it is what I use every day. If you run the Don Hume and really like IWB then get a Milt Sparks Summer Special. They are sweet. The mouth is renforced very well and makes one handed reholstersing easy. |

I have used the Milt Sparks VM2 www.miltsparks.com/ to carry a full size 1911 for years. Never carry a gun in a location where it can easily be taken from you, which is another problem with a small of back holster. |

Screw that kydex stuff. Leather is the only way to go. And the two best leather makers as far as I'm concerned are Milt Sparks and Mitch Rosen. I like the Sparks VM-II. www.miltsparks.com Lightning Arms stocks them so you don't have to wait. The Sparks Watch Six is good too; same as the VM-II but without the metal inserts. Very comfie. I don't quite get the appeal of kydex. I'm selling my last kydex holster right now to an ARFCOM member. |

Milt Sparks Summer Special, strong side right behind hip. Believe me, it's not obvious. I've walked the most dangerous ground - a room full of liberals - like this, and noone was the wiser. Also, it aids in quick presentation. Shoulder and crossdraw are slow and ackward. SOB, as others have said, risks serious spinal injury if you happen to fall. Good luck, you may have to try several to find what fits you best. Don't let anyone dictate it to you. |

I carry a USP compact .45 in a COMP-TAC CTAC with a Blackhawk rigger belt. I can easily conceal it under a t-shirt or muscle shirt and shorts. It's a really comfortable and easy to use set up. I started out with a Galco Skyops IWB. It was comfortable and lightweight but having the clip on the side of the holster adds thickness and makes a more obvious bulge. Also I found it hard to reholster because the leather is not stiff enough to hold it completely open. |
Ditto on all that. I carry my Glock 30 in a C-tac and it works great. Sometimes I can't even feel the gun there. Be sure to invest in some new pants too. You're going to need to buy new ones about 2" bigger than what you wear now. |
If you fall down on your back, you are unable to roll it off. You will be landing right on a lump of hard metal and plastic. Ouch. |

I still maintain that the "spinal injury" risk, while present, is greatly overstated on gun boards. It's up there with the "rack the shotgun and the bad guys run" thing. BOTH have occured, but neither is very likely. I think SOB is a bad place to carry for several reasons. Spinal injury is way low on the list. |
