Day before yesterday I got a bond arms derringer mostly as a fun gun but will probably carry as a snake gun in the summers. The shop that I got I from threw in the driving holster with the gun. My only complaint with the holster is the Velcro closer for the belt piece is pretty weak and it came loose a few minutes ago when I got out of my pickup.
My current plan is to make a new holster, possibly using the old holster as a pattern. My question is what kind of closure will be more reliable than velcro but not require me to pull my belt every time I want to take the holster off? My initial thought is either a buckle or snaps but I'm afraid that snaps will weaken and a buckle will be too bulky. If a stitched belt loop is the way to go then I can live with that but does anyone have any better alternatives?

Why not just use a standard pull the dot snap loop? You can order them from lots of places that make Kydex holsters.

That is definitely an idea and not something that I had thought of or heard of, thanks.
