For carry, do you prefer to have a holster with or without the body shield.  What is the benefit to having it? Thanks for the input

Body shield protects the slide and controls from your sweat. The grip is still exposed though and depending on how you draw you may not get your strong thumb in the correct position without a very minor adjustment. No body shield leaves the slide serrations and controls rubbing against your skin but lets you get a full firing grip on your draw.

Mine for my G26 has the body shield and I like it since I don't wear undershirts. Kydex can get a bit sticky feeling on bare skin but less obtrusive than slide serrations IMHO. The adjustment on draw for my thumb is so minimal I really don't notice it and it doesn't slow me down any from my already slow draw. YMMV.

Short shield will give you a faster draw and your thumb won't drag across kydex, I personally can't stand the drag on my draw.

The full shield aids in reholstering as well

You pay extra for them to cut off the shield, which you can do yourself if you don't like it. I always run the shield. More comfortable, protects the gun a little.

I like no shield holsters at 3 o'clock, short shield (where I can still get a full grip) for appendix carry.

I use a full shield. On my 1911 it keeps the manual safety on
