[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Alien Gear Pic request (Page 1 of 2)

| Could those who have alien gear holsters post some actual pictures of theirs please? I am wondering if it looks as orange as it does on the website and a couple pictures I've seen of the tan one. I know it's trivial to care so much about how a IWB holster looks but I'd rather not have an orange looking holster when I can get the black one for $5 more. That being said I'd take the tan one if it doesn't look that orange. Thanks in advance. |

How do you like yours? and what clips are those? |

I one for G17 and another for a 5" 1911 (I got both Thanks. I e-mailed them about the wait time and they said the black leather will take a little bit longer to get because of availability, so I'll probably go with the tan, but more pictures of guns and holsters won't hurt! |

Mine took about 3 weeks to ship. Ordered 28/17 and got the shipping notice on 3/5. I tried taking two pics, but I don't think they came out too well.
The first one is on the hood of my car. I was trying to show the color against a white background in sunlight, but it's pretty shady. http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae357/Captain_Morgan_02/DB240F2A-EF66-4BF6-A10F-11114D3F57C5.jpg So what I did instead was go inside and threw them on the dining room table and added my wife's 18% grey card as a reference. http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae357/Captain_Morgan_02/43EDCC56-B3FD-40D4-A594-1BABCE11CFD0.jpg Hopefully that helps show the color. I think flfreefall's pics show the true color much better than my pics do, so if you'd be happy with that color, yours would look like that. Color aside, I find these holsters comfortable, and they seem like a pretty good deal for the money. I would buy again and recommend them. Thanks man. It may be a little bit oranger than I'd like but it doesn't look that bad. Plus like I said, it's an IWB holster haha and if it'll ship quicker than the black one I don't see why not to get the tan one. I'll probably pull the trigger when I get paid on Friday and will more than likely buy another one in the future sometime for my 1911. Just for shits and gigs. |

Got mine this morning in the mail. It looks nice, even though I've already scratched it with my thumb safety I've been wearing it while doing yard work for two hours before breaking for lunch. I barely felt it move, it was amazingly comfortable for wearing it the first time. As far as concealment, my fiancee and mother both had no idea I had a full size 1911 on my hip until I told them. Shorts and a t-shirt, this thing is a dream. |

One thing I've noticed is the moderate trigger guard coverage on a lot of them. Unlikely to ever be an issue, but it would be no more work for them to full cover the trigger guard. The quality does seem nice though, a guy from work brought his in. Anyone else have anything to say about this? I have mine ordered so now I wait. |

My G19's trigger is definitely covered. |

I ordered on 3/31, and cant wait to get it, I have noticed a new trend on ARF lately.

May I ask what you didnt like about it? Quoted:

I got mine last week. It is a nice holster but after using a kydex IWB for a few years, I really don't like reholstering in the Alien Gear / OF / Cross Breed style holsters. May I ask what you didnt like about it? I have nothing against the AG holster as its well made and has a great price; I plan on keeping it and continuing to try it out. Yet I have found one thing I don't like about that type (leather back, kydex front) of holster. When the gun comes out - the holster collapses some and so re-holstering is less fluid since it's getting squished between my side and a belt. It's not bad, I'm just getting used to it since I've been accustomed to full kydex. |
| My trigger is fully covered. Good holster. The only problem I have seen with mine is that it collapses when the pistol is pulled, making it somewhat hard to re-holster. Not impossible, just have to be careful. I was wondering if I was cranking my belt down too tight but another poster above referenced the same thing. |
| I'm looking to get one that's just kydex, but I wanted a nice holster so I could carry more and at that price it's hard to beat, even if it is a little harder to re-holster, hopefully I'd never have to do that under duress. Anyone have any good recommendations for kydex only holsters? My friend is thinking about getting a PJ holster. I'd rather carry appendix with a different holster. |

I ordered mine on Friday the 11th, so all I know is an e-mail they sent me said 3-6 weeks. The e-mail was before I ordered. And a little bit longer if you get the black one. Quoted:

| Ordered one for a shield myself. I'm hoping swapping to the belt loops will improve my opinion. I used to own a few Crossbreeds for guns in the past and I just didn't like the clips. I've been a Milt Sparks and Comptac M-tac user ever since and love them, but I just picked up a shield and figure it can't hurt to try again. |

I got my shipping notice today. Order 4/11. Shipped 5/2. Exactly 3 weeks. Hopefully I'll have it before next Friday. Received it this morning and it looks great! Now time to try it on and try different ride levels and cants. ETA: I've only carried this morning and afternoon, but this holster works great. Prior to this holster I used an Uncle Mike's cheapo holster which worked but was no where near as easy to conceal as this Alien Gear holster. I knew that a nicer holster would make it easier to conceal, but I am kind of amazed at how much easier it is, especially since I have a small frame, about 5'9", 150. I moved it to the highest screws so it would ride the lowest and it just feels right; it's comfortable and hides very well. I can only imagine how much better it will be with a nice Beltman belt I have to order next. I will definitely be getting a few more of these as I (hopefully) get more handguns, and will be getting one for my 1911 sometime. |

| The only negative I've had so far with it, is that every time I draw, my middle finger gets cut or scrapes on the kydex. Maybe this is something that can be changed by just practicing drawing more, but I'm thinking about possibly putting a small piece of electrical tape right where my middle finger hits to stop the scraping. |
| I just received mine after waiting 5 weeks. I'm pretty disappointed. Carrying it behind my hip I have trouble getting it out of the holster no matter how hard I pulled. I found with the slightest forward pressure the kydex digs into the accessory rail slot on my glock. Will be contacting them to see about returning it. I may try filing down the kydex but I don't feel confident using a holster that I can't get a gun out of. What's the point? |

Quoted:
What spacers? Are there some in the bag of screws they sent. There wasn't anything mentioned in the manual. Yes, and they are in the baggie with the screws. It is also covered in the instructions that came with mine. Looking at your pics if I had to guess make the lower left to a longer spacer should work. Or as others have suggested just loosen it a little. I am noticing after several long days of wear everything is fitting\forming better. Please update us. Edit to add: I have also found raising the front belt clip which lowers the front ride. To be a pretty big improvement for me for conceal ability and comfort . This is not related to the other posters problem. |
| We'll after I took off the shell I found the it had G27 written on it. When I compared my holster to the one pictured on the website I noticed the my muzzle wasn't covered and the leather was a different shape. The rounded edge that was grabbing the rail is supposed to wrap over the muzzle on a sub compact size frame. I called customer service and they're sending me a new holster. |

I was going to mention that my muzzle is covered so the issue must have been something with that, but I forgot. Mine hasn't had any issues with drawing. I put some electrical tape on the shell right where my middle finger hits since it was scraping it, and that fixed that. |
