Hey , I just ordered some clipdraws for my 442 and 638 S&W airweights. They look like a pretty good alternative to holster carry.

Anyone have any experience with these?

Also I was thinking about getting a G26 for another carry gun. They also make a model for the Glock. But they reccommend getting a safe-t-plug to go behind the trigger to help protect against AD's . They say to just keep the chamber empty if not using plug.

Is that just for liability issues?

Also anyone use them on their Glocks?

A friend of mine has carried his Glock 27 (empty chamber with clipdraw) for over a year now, and bragged and boasted that it's so convenient, no extra weight from holster, and he can carry without having to worry about what he's wearing...
First time at range I asked if I could shoot his G27 to contrast the differences to my carry gun(G30). He says sure hands it over, says he hasn't put a round through it in about 2 years, I check it over, looks good... commence firing. Second mag third or fourth shot something hits me in the forehead, figured it was brass deflected from partition between lanes, keep firing. Third mag second shot "Clang" clip ends up at my feet.

Reinstalled w/ blue thread lock...  It's been about six months and one of the screws are already missing.

So I would suggest avoiding the ones for Glocks.

Absolutely it is for liability.  Glocks have this nasty tendancy to go off when you pull the trigger.  There is no safety to "deactivate" the trigger.  Poke it into your pants and the trigger gets snagged and BLAMMO more orifices bellow the beltline that God gave you at birth.

In my opinion the Glock needs a holster that covers the trigger more than just about any other gun.  How realistic is chamber empty carry for fast one hand employment of the gun?  Makes the gun useless.

Yeah probably not a good idea for the Glock . Won't mind it as much on my snubbies . Little harder to make them go off.

Holsters are your friend.

no harder for a revolver than a glock if the trigger catches on something. actually the glock is a tad harder since the trigger safter thing has to get caught too

I feel comfortable shoving my Airweights in my pocket or in my belt or jeans . The trigger pull is about 12-14 lbs for them and less of a chance of AD than a Glock. Even with the Glocks "safety" trigger. That is just my opinion not trying to flame anyone . I will not carry my G19 like that with round in chamber. Only with a holster.

My friend just graduated Philly Police Academy and I ordered a Blade tech IWB holster for his G26. A graduation present . I will have to check it out when he gets it.

I think I might buy a Kahr PM9 or P9 for a new carry gun. I tried a friends P11 and it wasn't for me.

Does he know what district he'll be working in yet? (Sorry for the hijack)

I think he said the 24th District Delaware Ave and surrounding areas . Right now him and most of the recent graduates from his class are in Center City for the holidays.

Got the clipdraw today as well for the 638 Bodyguard. Works as advertised and hides gun yet is very quick to get out.

I use one on my S&W 340PD. It works great and beats a holster without a doubt. Holds the gun securely in place.  Well worth the $20.

Drawbacks?  Some thoughts:

What about extra magazines or speedclips?

Moisture from the body.  Not a big problem with a Glock, of course

Comfort - you don't have the leather/kydex spreading out the pressure points

I carry 10 extra rounds in speed strips.

If I'm carrying an auto usually 1 extra mag.

My 2 snubbies are both stainless so that is alright. Not much skin contact as my boxers are between skin and gun.

I've been carrying a P11 with a Clipdraw for awhile now with no problems whatsoever, and I used blue loc-tite on the screws.
