In Michigan, 'Winter carry" starts about October 1st and ends.....well about today. After all those months of carrying anything I want under a heavy coat, now I have to think about concealment......casual time is no big deal, because an untucked shirt works great. But my work day is tougher. Higher temps mean lose the sport coat. Carry goes from 1911 to S&W 642.....hate it.

I have the same problem. Being 5'6 175lbs I switch from my 5" lw operator to my g19.

Try a different belt and holster combination. There are a lot of people that CCW 5" 1911's in the summer... or you could try to pick up a CBOB or VBOB from Dan Wesson or a Commander sized 1911 if you're really wanting to CCW one in the warmer months.

Well TX winter lasts from November 1st to Noverber 1st most years, so concealment is a problem when winter is measured with a minute timer.

Living in Liberal Austin doe have the advantage of being able to use a fanny pack for carry without anyone looking twice at you. You just have to be more aware of your surroundings because the draw is slower.

I usually wear wilderness 5 stitch and an iwb that a local holster maker made for me with my 1911. It actually does a pretty good job keeping it close to the body. It's just harder to conceal in general because of the grip. If I wear a polo you can't notice it.  But if I bend over to pick something up then the grip sticks out.

I know, I carried my glock daily for about 3 years, but ever since I got my 1911 my glock has been sitting in the safe.
I love my 1911

I'd rather carry a NAA 22 in 80* than a BFR in 45-70 in 10*

I hate the cold.

While I rarley ever have to dress beyond casual- I dont see what the prob is. Ive been carrying both an SR9C and a 5" 1911 concealed in OWB holsters in both jeans and shorts for the last few weeks since its been heating up.
5'1" 140 here.

I just carry my G26 all year long....no decisions or differences to worry about that way.

I have a line-up of carry options for summer, winter, pocket and ankle. It took me a little time to find them all but whatever the situation, I got it covered. All of my carry guns (minus ankle / bike) is of the same configuration, so they're all second nature.

My set-up also allows wearing normal shirts and pants without the need to alter clothing, wear lamp shade style shirts or clothes that makes me look 50lbs heavier. Having a variety of options means no worries about printing or how your going to carry that day.

Don't get me wrong....casual clothes are no problem. I can conceal a 1911 under a t-shirt. It's the work day that screws me. Dress pants, tucked in dress shirt......

smartcarry.com and my M&P 9c.  All day.  No one knows.

I did have to trim down the smartcarry to closely fit the gun.  The holster now looks more like a pie shape.

Next holster of this sort I buy is the threespeed holster.  Youtube and google it.  It has the shape I've made my smartcarry into.

I checked out the 3speed....any holster that says "don't practice the draw with one in the chamber" is too scary for me.....

That company has really messed up with that statement.  I wonder what they are thinking?

I don't find it difficult to handle a gun while keeping my finger off the trigger.

I ccw a full-size M&P9 everyday. During the work week I'm wearing a tucked in polo or dress shirt.

Same thoughts here.....

But seriously, OP I completely understand your problem.  My solution has be to ankle carry.  I have gotten used to it actually enjoy it, but with the downside of way slower draw time I only do it in certian situations.  I have "tuckable" holsters, but I personally am not a fan of tucking.  I'm 5'10" 165lbs so while they do easily conceal and the gun "disappears" when I tuck my shirt in, well you can definitely know something is going on.

I carry a G30SF all year round

depending on the weather, i'll switch between a comptac infidel and a desantis insider.

the latter keeps the grip low along the belt line and works great with shorts and a t-shirt. it takes some practice to draw from, but once you get the hang of it, it is very comfortable.

I carry a G23 99% of the time, winter, summer, xmas, easter, 4th of July....it doesn't matter.  I can conceal it just as well under a regular fitting tee shirt as I can under a heavy jacket.  I'm 6'-3", 220lbs.  However, I did pick up a Ruger LC9 last spring and it's an absolute joy to carry in a Crossbreed Mini-Tuck.

I know exactly what you mean with MI weather and carry.  Also, i do not do well in the heat so once the snow melts i do not wear anything really heavy.  My crossbreed supertuck can conceal my full-size XDm under even a tshirt.  Which is good seeing as my handgun collection is quite minimal so i can keep carrying the same handgun all year.

My Michigan brother. some advice for you: a crossbreed supertuck and a smith and wesson m&p compact is pretty much invisible in summer clothes, and its tuckable for business casual dress. also any gun the size of a glock 19/23 works or an hk p2000 is one of my new favorotes if the budget allows same with the hk p30 or sig p229, it all comes down to the holster for me. or maybe consider carrying your snubby .38 and another second gun on your ankle. I personaly like to carry a back up gun on my ankle in adition to my primary and extra mag. witch by the way is a kahr p9 in a galco COP ankle rig. works for me here in MI.

If your going to do that, you may need to remove all of Austin and most of Dallas and Houston.

I love summer. Girls in short shorts, bikinis, out on the lake... oh... thats not what we are talking about.

Summer carry for me is g26 in a horsehide supertuck. I conceal it with a normal tshirt no problem.
Spring, Fall, Winter carry is g19 in bravo concealment (kydex) OWB.

I carry a g19 in a kydex holster from www.valleykydex.com in the summer. Use a wilderness 5 stitch belt with this.

Same thing I carry in the winter. As long as my t shirt is a little loose it conceals great.

I've carried my Glock 19 in a MTAC slide model at my 4:00 a couple of times in shorts and a very fitted tee without it printing unless I bend over.

I might pick up a Glock 26 just so I don't have to worry about printing. That'll disappear.

I'm only 5'8" 150 lbs FWIW.
