Shopping for my wife. She carries a g17. Sites like gungear.com and other show low resolution pictures, and have very short, poor descriptions. Anyone know of good models? |

Galco has a decent selection of nice looking carry handbags that don't look like carry handbags..

+1 on the Coronado. My wife carries her PPS in one of these. The quality is outstanding, beautiful leather very finely stitched and tough. The Galco line is pretty expensive and according to my wife, their bags look like something her Grandmother might carry.

| A purse is the worst place in the world to carry a pistol, it is too easy for some scumbag to steal it. The gun needs to be on her person at all times.A police officer and a female customer were discussing this yesterday at the gun shop. She needs a holster or fanny pack of some sort. |

She works IN A BANK! Hip carry isn't exactly acceptable. When she isn't at work, she open carries on her hip with a gun-belt and two extra mags on her support side. While at work, however, she need a way to deep conceal it. |

However, my wife is small (size 2) and dresses very fashionably. Her purse is really her best option for carry. I'd much rather she carry this way than not carry at all, which would be the alternative. Actually, I'm glad we could find a dedicated concealed carry handbag that appealed to her. She had been putting her PPS in one of her giant Coach bags.

I can't get my wife to conceal carry let alone in one of the concealed carry purses that are on the market. When I was working hard trying to convince her she did some research on concealed carry purses and laughed in my face. I told her that I would find her a way to carry in her purses effectively. Somehow going from Louis Vuitton and Chanel to something that could be had at a gunshow didn't sit right with her fashionable side

Hi gentlemen, I would like to give my input.
I had the one that SGB shows and, from my experience, anything larger than a P3AT/LCP or a revolver don't really fit all that well. You can get the gun in there fine, but you have to fiddle faddle with the gun to get it out. I tried carrying both a G26 and a CZ-2075 in it. I also had one similar to what Hk_usp_40 has posted, and it was easier, but I still wasn't confident with it. What your wife will need to do is find a purse that can fit the G17 in it, and allows for easy pull-out. I haven't found a concealed carry purse yet that allows for the larger guns. I carry the LaRue bug out bag. http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=169 It's not fashionable, but I feel more confident with the ability to reach for my gun and actually get it out if I were to need it. Just my experience, .02, YMMV. |

I only switched purses due to the weight of the gun caused shoulder pain. I could get to my gun just as quick with the Coach bag as I can to my gun now. Plus, I like the cross body style purses better. Not as much of a target to bad guys that want to steal purses. And yes, I do carry on my person though. The gun in the purse is a back up. |
