I picked up a Glock 22 and a Ruger Mark III here, via Internet purchase. I picked up the Glock 22 on Monday. The Ruger Mark III is coming in on Thursday. My FFL guy told me if I picked it up this week this would cause the ATF or local authorities to do further investigations. I don't care, since I've got nothing to hide, but would there be any hassle or problems?
He said I should wait until next week to pick up the Ruger to avoid any "problems." Anyone heard of this? Comments? |

He doesn't want to have to fill out this... http://www.atf.gov/forms/download/atf-f-3310-4.pdf I filled 'em out when I had an FFL and I've had 'em filled out on me as a buyer since –– no big deal IMHO, but opinions vary. |

He just doesn't want the ATF asking why he's selling multiple guns to the same guy. Paranoia, the ATF can't do anything like shoot yer dog and step on your kitten if they investigate you. I've dealt with dealers who feel the same and I've dealt with dealers who understand it's just another form to fill out and process. |

Why did you sell 2 guns to this man...... he had the money for 2......... he wanted both of them...............one was for his wife. |

Quoted: Might just be a coincidence, but the couple of times I bought guns within a few days of one another,I have been delayed on my NICS check. I have never been delayed any other time. ![]() Did you buy them from different dealers? If so the two checks run so close together probably triggered a look into you possibly gun shopping for resale to those who cannot possess them? |

knowingly and intentionally waiting to avoid the extra paperwork may bring on problems far above and beyond the multiple handgun form.
On one of my deployments, I picked up 3 handguns. When I returned, my FFL transferred them to me all at once, with the multiple handgun form. Never had a problem/peep/contact from any LEO agency. He's paranoid, and his paranoia may get him in further trouble. |

Yep. I've bought multiples before with no problems. I think the most I ever did was three handguns at one time. |

Two dealers ,three transactions,Two delays.all three transactions transpired in about a ten day window, first one went thru ,second and third delayed, got called following day to come get gun both times.I have bought many guns before and since with no delays. This is not the same as buying multiple guns in one transaction . |
| I'm curious from just scanning over the document, so the 4473 with all the info stays with the FFL if it went to a government agency it could or would be considered gun registration, right? This form looks to have most of the buyer and firearm info on it and it goes to the BATF, then what do they do with all this personal info? |

Unless/until the FFL dealer loses or surrenders his license, goes out of business, etc. –– the bound book and 4473s are usually surrendered to BATFE along with the license. I'll leave it to you to surmise what has become of all those records over the years... ![]() |
| Yeah I knew about the FFL's turning over their records when their license is gone, but from what I was told by several different dealers is that the ATF just puts the 4473's into storage unless they have to trace a particular firearm that went through said dealer. This form doesn't seem like it goes into bulk storage like the 4473's though. I no we probably wont get the answer to this but it is something to think about. |
