Anyone wear their MTAC w/o an undergarment - if so how comfortable is it? ETA: I carry a G19.
I have used a Milt Sparks Versamax for quite awhile and always wear a t-shirt to avoid chafing. So that means two t-shirts or a t-shirt and cover shirt. Recently due to a bout with shingles I started carrying OWB with the cheap Glock holster. If I have to wear two layers anyway, I may stick to OWB carry for comfort. Also looking at one of these for "light duty" and short-term comfort: http://n82tactical.com/n82store/?page_id=175 Probably pick up an MTAC soon anyway but looking for input on using it. |

Right now just a rash would be a relief! So you think its pretty comfy overall? I really don't have much of a problem with a light undershirt even under a Tee but this past summer was rough on me with undershirts in the heat. Then the shingles - oh man. Right now its OWB only - but I like the security of IWB carry. Just looking to see if others find the MTAC comfortable enough without a undershirt so I can make it thru some hot days next season.
Thanks for your input! |

I very rarely wear an undershirt while carrying. The MTAC is still very comfortable. That said, I wish they offered it with loops instead of the stupid belt clips. I've pulled the holster out of my pants a few times already. Wow. That helps me with the choice between the C-clips and the standard clips. Looks like the standard clips might be best. Thanks for the input - the MTAC looks promising. |

The VM2 is real secure for me with the snap loops so I considered adding a little neoprene side protector to it for some additional comfort and just rolling with it. They are pricey holsters. I bought mine used locally and its been great overall but it chafed quite a bit without a t-shirt under it. Just really hot in the summer around here with that extra layer of clothing on. The VM2 is a little bulkier than the MTAC so I thought I might save a fraction of an inch as well.
Once I get back in condition to go in the waistband carry again, I'll just have to try the VM2 out again and maybe try to modify it like I need. The MTAC looks like a good rig though so if I just can't make it work with the VM2 like I want to it'll be my first go to option. |
| The MTAC is pretty secure when I wear a thicker leather belt. I usually like to wear a nylon riggers belt, but the clips have a tendency to slide over the edge. It is a very well made holster, just not digging the clips right now. Much more comfortable than my all kydex IWB holsters. I'm switching over to a 5 stitch Wilderness belt, so we'll see how the clips work on that. |

You really ought to consider a horsehide Super Tuck.
My MTAC was a good holster but the comfort and stability of the Super Tuck blew it away; I carry a full size M&P all year round in mine, usually under only a single T shirt and never with an undershirt. I'm outdoors hiking or fishing in the Florida heat and humidity almost every day, and I've never had even the slightest irritation under that holster where the Super Tuck rides directly against my skin. I'm not a Crossbreed fanboy by any means; although I prefer the horsehide Super Tuck over my MTAC , I like my Comp-Tac 1 1/2" Kydex Reinforced Contour Belt much more than I liked my Crossbreed belt. |

If nothing else I'll wear a wife beater, but I have worn it without an undershirt several times. The main time I could see it being an issue is when it gets really warm and you're walking a lot. That rubbing against sweaty skin will be irritating.
I've got thousands of draws out of my MTAC and my G19 with the standard belt clips and have had no occurances of drawing the holster with the gun. |

I bought crossbreed clips thinking the metal clips would be better and they did the same thing. I then modified the clips to use bladetech belt loops and that worked but I wasn't crazy about the Jerry rigged setup. I ended up buying the C Clips and they lock onto my wilderness just fine. They were on sale for $10 so I bought them from Comp-tac and I couldn't be happier. |

I usually wear a t-shirt under a button up or a thin wife-beater under t-shirts. Going without isn't any more or less comfortable than anything else that results in the grip of your gun rubbing on your skin. I haven't had any issues with the normal MTAC clips. I like how flexible they are because it makes it easy to get the holster on and off. The Crossbreed clips are a huge pain in the ass. |

Might try some of this on the back side of your VM II. . . That is certainly an option and may do the trick. The shingles are teh debil. I can get by with a thin t-shirt once these things settle down and go away but it would be nice at times to not have an extra shirt layer in the humidity and heat. |
| All the time. I carry a full size 1911 in an MTAC and on the weekends I usually just have on a t-shirt with no undershirt (will soon be changing because of weather but that is typical for warmer conditions). It is comfortable. If you run cheese grater grips and carry in a place where the gun will constantly rub against you it won't be comfortable by my stock kimber grips with a carry position of 3 o'clock is GTG. |

I rarely wear an undershirt and carry one of my MTACs around from about 6am every day until 10 or 11pm when I go to sleep. Never had any comfort issues at all. Once it gets broken in and the leather forms itself to you, you really won't notice you even have it on half the time. |
