I have decided (finally) on this for carry after handling countless pistols (Big palm, short fat fingers, thanks gramps). I also have a budget of $400 or less on a new carry piece. I have a blue 1911 clone, and taurus stainless 357, but wanted something comfortable to carry, smaller than 45ACP (ammo cost), and actually fit my hands like a 1911. my 1911 means too much to me to get banged up carrying it.

Any reasons I should stray from this SR-9?

i had one and liked it. problem was i joined the ruger forum and heard about all the barrel peening issues with it. according to the site thousands of sr9's have issues after just 1000 rounds, and ever since finding out, my confidence in the gun was shaken and i sold her as a down payment on my kimber. I have to say, i myself never had any issues with the gun, and i liked it fine. mighta been my own fault for listening to others i didnt know, so take this post with a grain of salt. Iv heard nothing bad about the new sr9c, and think its also a fine gun. i also enjoy many of rugers p series guns. not quite as cool as the sr9, but always reliable. Knew an officer that had the old p89. at every qualification iv ever seen, hed get made fun of, then the guys with the M9's would experience jams and failures. My friend never had a failure with his ruger.  just kept shooting away.  rugers have always been good guns for the money
