So I was curious after all the talk about the SLR104UR having possible complications with the twist rate being able to stabilize the 5.45 round after being cut down; what is the twist rate on the M85, and is it adequate for the 5.56? Also, are these able to accept those conversion kits that allow for the use of standard AR mags?

Twist rate is 1:7, being in the faster range for 5.56 and probably better for a short barrel. AR pistol length barrels use the same twist, sometimes 1:8 as well.
With the SLR as I understood it it's not necessarily the twist rate that throws off the 5.45, but the barrel quality. I've heard people say their cut down 1:7.8 barrels keyhole every time, and some who say they shoot MOA. The faster twist rate was supposedly adopted in the aks-74u as an attempt to increase accuracy, but had no noticeable effect one way or the other. Or so I hear.

Can't speak on the conversion, not familiar with it.

It appears the Definitive arms conversion is not available for the m85, not sure about the others.

I just saw that. I'm curious how reliable they will be.

If century does the conversion, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Since they come in as pistols, I'd probably wager they come that way from the factory

I talked to Century today.  Their M85s currently take special mags and Tapco mags.  Does anyone know of an 5.56 Ak Pistol that uses .223 AK mags?  What are the opinions on the Ak M85.  Get it or go with the M92?

I already have a m92, but if a m85 comes out that accepts standard pmags/usgi mags and it is reliable I will own one.
