I have pretty much finished the build on my milled arsenal SA-93. The gun is solid as a rock. Magazine fits tight, and there is really no wobble at all in the charge bolt or magazines at all. I heard that this would be the case for milled Arsenals, hence why I went with one for my "longer/long range..haha" barrel build.
I also decided that I wanted to build a Drako in pretty much the exact same way...only difference being it woul dhave an 11" barrel instead of 16.5". I picked up the Drako today, and the thing is new, and I have to say quality wise I was a little dissapointed. The charging handle wobbles a good bit inside of the gun, and the magazine wobbles a lot as well. When I got it there was blobs of yellow foamy stuff all over it and the thing was covered in oil, both of which I cleaned up. The wood just looks like plain wood...it wasn't stained, covered or anything, just plain exposed wood. I'm replacing the wood, so that doesn't really bother me. My question is....is this just how AK-47s are suppose to be? If so that's fine with me. The only other AK-47 I have experience with is my milled SA-93 which is tight as a rock, so I may be expecting too much from the normal AKs. Please let me know what you guys think. I just want to make sure the thing is normal for Drakos, and is going to hold up on me and be a good gun to put money into before I do. Thanks, Mike |
| The charging handle should not wobble very much. The wood comes sanded down and you can stain it yourself or replace it. They all need to be cleaned well when you get them. Mag wobble is not a problem and these are factory guns not low cap imports opened up here.Back to the charging handle, give some more details... |

Here's a video I just made of the Milled SA-93 vs. my new Pistol Drakov. Thanks for th ehelp guys! SA-93 vs. Drakov |

I just checked both my dracos and a sam 7 carbine. Both my dracos wobble, one more than the other, but both less than yours, not by much. My sam 7 wobbles just a tad, not enough to make a sound of metal hitting metal. I think youre draco is fine, but i'm no expert in that matter, this is the first time I had ever seen this brought up.
As far as the quality goes, I might have been expecting something out of a garbage disposal, because I was actually impressed a little with the quality. The finish wasn't so bad either once I washed it with soap and water to remove all the grease. |
| Well of course after seeing your video, I had to check my Draco "C". Almost no wobble at all, but I really wouldn't worry about it. Go shoot the thing & see how it does. The beauty of an AK is that it's loose & doesn't jam on a grain of sand. Shoot the gun today & then make up your mind. GARY N4KVE |
| Looks like more play than in all of my AK's , Draco included. Seems more odd to me that the Arsenal has zero play , needs a little slop to keep sand and dirt from jamming it up. Anyway, I had a SAR-1 that was very sloppy like that and after 500rds or so it would jam or miss a round out of mag every 60-100 rds., due to the bolt riding over the round or pushing it in high on the rim. |
| My two Draco's, one "C" and one non- "C":.With a mag with out ammo, the charging handles wobbles a little. With ammo in the mag, no wobble. I did the same to my Norinco pre-ban and my Arsenal SA-93. They wobbled a little with out ammo in the mag and didn't with ammo in the mag. So...................it's a non issue with me. |

AtlanticFireArms is where I bought this, and they have been helpful this entire time. They said they would gladly do an exchange for me. I asked them to pick out a real snug one for me this time ;) So you haven't shot the gun yet to see how it works? GARY N4KVE |
| They said I could, but I'd rather just exchange it for a more solid one. Will it work? I'm sure, but I'd prefer to start off with one more solid anyways. I figure it's better to send them back a new gun, then to send them one back with a few 100 rounds through it. |
