My ffl ordered me my first Draco, and it arrives tomorrow.  I'm excited.  I own a WASR and I thought the addition of a Draco was a good fit for me.

While looking at some other piston gas type pistols, I noticed that  the new Rock River Arms  LAR-PDS Pistol (5.56/223) sells with an "operator safety flange" on their Molded Ribbed Handguard model.  I wonder why they can sell an AR pistol with a hand stop, but I can't put one on my new Draco pistol unless I pay for a $200 stamp?  Just wondering outloud.

Because that is not a vertical grip or anything you can hold onto for that matter. It's just a small protrusion that prevents your hand from slipping off of the handguard and sweeping the muzzle while firing. If you want something like that for your Draco, get a railed handguard and install a rail mounted handstop. Basically the same thing in the end.

Thanks for the info, I really thought that a hand stop would constitute an AOW.  I plan on putting rails on it, so the addition of a hand stop seems like a good idea to me.  Thanks again.
