Anyone else feel guilty that after getting a Draco you cannot help but think "&^#!@" that barrel is long" when you look at a normal AK?

Geez, he's just joking. Relax a little, chief.
Quoted:
Longer barrels have their advantages. Pretty much only sight radius, in this specific situation. 7.62x39 loses very little velocity from a shorter barrel, unlike a lot of other calibers which need longer barrels for optimum velocity. |
| I know what you mean , I never cared for AKs because of the barrel with the tall front sight tacked on the end , but I like my Draco , only AK I own , I just wish I lived in a state where I could SBR it .And what is the theory behind not letting you attatch a forward grip ????? |

You can put a forward grip on a Draco pistol. You just have to pay the tax stamp, as it would now be an AOW. |

How much hassle is it to get a tax stamp for a forward grip and would the cost be worth it , and what would be the cost ?lol. It's the same process you'd have to go through to get an SBR, SBS, suppressor, etc, etc. $200 and the other stuff. Check the NFA subforum here for more details. I know finger prints, photos and a CLEO sign-off are part of the equation (some, or all, of which is voided if you're doing it through a trust). I haven't yet got into the NFA world (only been living in a "free" state for about 5 months), so I'm not the man to talk to about it. |
| You cannot turn an existing weapon into an AOW. AOWs must be made from a virgin receiver. You can form a new receiver from flats and register that as an AO, strip the draco parts and transfer them to the new receiver. Tax on AOW is only $5, not $200 like other NFAs. You would be better off, for the amount of trouble to add a folding stock, then you can put the VFG on it if you reallly want to hold it like an AOW. |

Fail on all acocunts! well I guess except one
You do your paperwork, (Form 1 X2, photos, fingerprint cards X2 and one other form that I forget the # on), get the CLEO signoff, send in your check for $200 because you are making an AOW and wait. In 4-6 months you get one copy of your stamped form 1 back and now are free to put on your forward grip. I would just do an SBR and then you can put on a forward grip and/or a stock on it and it's the same $200. The only time an AOW is $5 is the transfer once it's been made. Quoted:

You cannot turn an existing weapon into an AOW. False. AOWs must be made from a virgin receiver. I used to think this too, as the Serbu Super Shorty (which is an AOW) is only a $5 transfer because it's coming from the manufacturer that way. Turning a pistol into an AOW is considered "manufacturing", and requires the $200 tax. You would be better off, for the amount of trouble to add a folding stock, then you can put the VFG on it if you reallly want to hold it like an AOW. |
| Yeah, I have been a lurker in here for a little bit thinking I needed to SBR one as well. I have the VZ58 sotck already and am going to pick up a Draco here in the next day or two. J&G has them for $299 right now so if I don't find one at the funshow this weekend I'll be ordering one. |

Who the hell aims their Draco? I just shoot mine from gut level and "walk" it into the target. This thing is a kick in the ass.
Draco make me lose my mind... up in here.. up in here. Draco make me lose my cool... up in here.. up in here. (Try getting that little tune out of you head now) |
