Well folks, my DSA RPD made it to the gunshop today, but the wonderful people at the ATF/NICS decided to delay me.  Funny, what should I do with the NFA weapons I have registered if I can't even buy a semi-auto rifle without being hassled?  Bureaucracies... gotta love them.

Anyway, this is as good as I can do right now until either 3 days pass or they decide to call back with a proceed.

The rifle looks nicely made, the metal parts are well finished and it looks great.  The wood is a little boogered up, but not bad.  It looks nice enough for me.  No cracks or anything that I can see, just a few marks and dings here and there.

The rifle appears to be a later generation of RPD as the charging handle does not reciprocate with the bolt when it fires and folds out of the way when not in use.  The rifle doesn't have a dust cover for the feed system which tells me it's not a Polish kit, that it is in fact an Egyptian kit that the rifle was built on.

The sling that came with the rifle is useless.  The buckle is rusted and inoperable and the strap itself is frayed and very worn.  I will have to find a generic nylon sling for the rifle which shouldn't be too difficult.

Wise Lite is doing the builds on DSA receivers.  DSA told me they warranty the rifle, so if I have problems I'll just drive it over to their Barrington shop as it's only about 1.5 hours from me.  I'm hoping I don't have any issues and the quality/reliability is at least as good as I've read from many happy Vector owners.  I've read lots of negative reviews of Wise Lite rifles in general which has me a bit concerned.  I would be shocked if DSA put their stamp of approval on something that was poorly made, so all my faith rests in the fact DSA is marketing it as one of their own.

I should be able to do a full video review and get some hi-res images up by this weekend.  I will post detailed pics once I get approval to pick the rifle up, hopefully sooner rather than later.

I got my proceed today from NICS, so I picked the rifle up over lunch.

I was completely mistaken about the features on this rifle.  It does have:

1)  non-reciprocating folding charging handle (as I noted)
2)  dust covers on both sides
3)  cleaning rod on left side of receiver
4)  windage adjustable rear sight

I'm not sure what kit this rifle was built on.  It's my understanding the Egyptian RPD's never had the features of the 4th generation guns, which this one has.  I'm by no means a RPD expert, so any info you guys may have would be useful.

Here's a couple sample shots, I have to do some work then I'll post some better pics.

The "11" in the oval on the top cover tells me your RPD is built on a Polish kit.

Thanks, that's good news.  I was kind of wanting a Polish rifle but the guys at DSA said the first few guns were being built on left over Egyptian kits.  Perhaps I lucked out.

Is the barrel chrome lined?  Your RPD look great.  I am wanting to purchase one, but cannot decide which build to get.

Nope, the barrel does not appear to be chrome lined.  :(

Yup, it says "1960".

I love the look of the rifle, it seems to be a quality build.  I'm looking forward to shooting it this weekend.  I hope it shoots as good as it looks.
