Call MGS and get their kit and some drums. Contact Pirate at projectguns.com for their wise-lite receiver and semi auto parts kit. Pirate and Jorge will do the build with your kit for $300.00 plus shipping as long as your kit has a GI barrel. Tou will have to guy their wise-lite receiver and semi parts. That cost is $700.00. If you go with Sarco for a kit you will get a Shaw Barrel and Pirate will have to modify your receiver for a non standrd RPD barrel. I don't know why anyone would buy a Shaw non-chromed, non-GI spec barrel over a chrome lined GI barrel that was built for full auto shooting.
I will post pictures when I receive my RPD back. If yo go onto projectguns site you can read and see RPDs being built. They also have tutorials on how to build it yourself with their receiver and semi auto parts kit. Dane [email protected] PS: My User Name is MD66948 on all firearm forums but AR15.com. I am not a Doctor, MD66948 is the serial number of my 1953 M38A1 Army Jeep. |

Does it just press in? and where is the barrel pin located? The build seems easy enough, I just gotta know how hard the barrel install is. FREE Free, Check with crashland73 at this post: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=51&t=117482 Crash is building his right now. I beieve the GI barrels are threaded. I am having Stan, aka Pirate, at www.projectguns.com build my two RPDs. One is my oldest son's. I am doing mine as an SBR with a Bulgarian Slant brake. I may go with the M249 Nutsack Hanger System also. I will post pictures of mine when completed. Dane |

I don't want to discourage anyone, but the build is NOT easy! It's not overly difficult, but you need a full machine shop with a compliment of carbide cutting tools, a mill with a DRO is HIGHLY recommended. You will have to fabricate two fixtures as well. I have built one on a Vector receiver and Vector semi conversion parts, it was fun - but challenging. I just ordered parts to build a second, but I am not using the Vector semi parts this time. I was not happy with the way the striker system worked, going to fab my own lower with AR fire control parts and do a hammer fired version this time.
The main difference between the Vector and Project Guns receivers is that the Vector is a press-in and pin barrel, where the Project Guns uses the threads on the barrel and you have to time it. There are pros and cons to both - either way works fine. |

. Needless to say it was resolved but I found it interested to see a "1959" dated one:
