| Is there any way to get a belt to be less than a possible 50 rounds? Perhaps unlink them somehow, or snip extras off? Would they still work if they ended at 30? I ask this b/c OH has a 30 rd mag limit (+1 in tube). |

but it's a belt and not a mag. No legal expert but I would think a belt would not be covered under whatever anal law. Check how they define a magazine in the law or ask someone who is knowlegable.
But then why would any law-abiding person need more than 30 rounds? |

Not sure of the OP's state's definition but that was the impression I was under. |

VT has it pretty right.

The ORC defines any semi automatic center fire firearm that has been designed or adapted to fire more than 31 rounds without reloading as a machine gun. Thus a dangerous ordinance. This does not apply to NFA registered firearms. The magazine is the adapter. 30 round mag is fine + 1 in the chamber = 31. Beltfeds must load only 31 rounds. 32 round mags are not ok. This is contained in ORC 2923. See definitions of dangerous ordinance. See possession of dangerous ordinance. You can own the mag, but you cannot insert it into a non NFA firearm. I trust this has been responsive to your inquiry. . From shotar in the Ohio section. |
