Just walked in from taking my maiden voyage with my first AK. As I posted last week, I bought a Yugo, M70 AB2 last Sat. and took her out yesterday for the first time. The sight is slightly canted so it shot 3" left at 25 yds. The grenade sight cut my left thumb. The under folder bruised my right jaw. The trigger slap had me flinching after the first mag. In short, I LOVED IT !!
Borrowed a sight tool from a buddy today after church and went back to my pistol range. I had to move the front sight a good bit, but that's ok. I sighted it so POI was about 2" high at 25 yds. Put a pair of gloves on and wrapped a rag around the stock(I'm gonna pad it permanently) , and proceeded to shoot a big ragged hole out of the target at 25yds. Plus, I enjoyed it today as it was very comfortable to shoot and of course, never missed a beat.
To paraphrase the real estate people, with battle rifles, as far as I'm concerned, It's RELIABILITY, RELIABILITY, RELIABLITY !!!
Thanks for listening,

Try this for your stock and do another range report.

Thanks POB. That looks like a neat accessary, but I'm not bothered by recoil. It's the cheekweld that is rough against that metal underfolder. I'm not gonna sweat  it, I'm just going to make a pad for it and enjoy it.
Thanks,

You're not really supposed to have a cheek weld as such with an underfolder. Once you get some more trigger time with it, you'll learn how to shoot it comfortably. I love UF's and I plan to get me one sooner or later. Shot a few of them today at the HTF shoot.

This is what I used on mine, you can keep wrapping it until it builds up to where you like it....Mine still folds under fine with a pretty good amount of it on there. Its just harder to push the saftey behind the stock to fire it with the stock folded http://www.mountsplus.com/miva/merchant.mvc?page=MSP/CTGY/Camo_Wrap

Thanks. I was not familiar with that product or that company. I stopped by Lowes yesterday and picked up an eight foot section of the 5/8" inside diameter, thick, foam pipe insulation for, get this, 96cents! I cut an 8 1/2" section and put it on the left side of my underfolder and man what a difference! Nice, comfortable place for my cheek and I can pull it off in one second if I need to. Can't wait to shoot it again.

robie 1,
Only eighty rounds so far, with perfect function. I like it enough that I want to get another Yugo with fixed stock. By the way I'm using Barnaul ammo.
When I get to S. LA. I actually stay on the Barataria side of the bridge. My brother-in-law has a house on the water there that's only about 2 or 3 hundred yards from the seaway. My bride lived in that house until I married her 4 years ago. Not a lot of places to stay as you know so before we got married I'd go to see her and stay at "Griffin Fishin' " in Lafitte. We go down now a couple of times a year.
All the best,
